Job Description

Supply Chain Strategy Manager

Derby

Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Supply Chain Strategy Manager to join the Supply Chain Strategy & Innovation team in Derby, with multiple opportunities potentially available.

In this role, you will lead defined strategy outputs and strategic projects that contribute to the Procurement & Supply Chain (P&SC) strategic plan and associated supply-chain strategies. You will turn business, customer and future-programme requirements into clear strategic direction, choices and guardrails across the end-to-end supply chain, integrating commercial, operational and market evidence.

You will be accountable for assigned outputs and projects, which may include programme industrialisation strategies, country and ecosystem strategies, make-versus-buy decisions, strategic partnerships, manufacturing capability and footprint choices, competitive benchmarking and early-phase implementation.

You will work closely with Supply Chain Design & Development, who translate the agreed direction and guardrails into detailed future-state designs, capabilities and implementation roadmaps.

What you will be doing:

  • Leading defined strategy outputs, establishing the evidence, strategic direction, choices and guardrails needed to progress the P&SC strategic plan and assigned supply-chain strategies.
  • Developing programme, country and ecosystem strategies, translating future requirements, industrialisation needs, market conditions and external relationships into clear strategic choices.
  • Leading assigned strategic projects, defining scope, priorities, dependencies and recommendations and maintaining momentum through early phases.
  • Shaping manufacturing capability and footprint choices, evaluating make-versus-buy, restructuring, acquisition, partnership and supply options against strategic, commercial and operational outcomes.
  • Developing strategic partnership options, defining the purpose, value, risks and operating principles needed to inform decisions and progress viable opportunities.
  • Maintaining competitive benchmarking and market insight, improving the quality of strategic options and priorities.
  • Aligning cross-functional contributors, bringing Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Programmes and Aftermarket teams around agreed outputs and decisions.

Position Qualifications:

  • Experience leading defined strategy development and strategic projects within a complex industrial environment.
  • Strong analytical and commercial judgement, with the ability to assess value, investment and strategic trade-offs across operations, procurement and services.
  • A proven record of building effective internal and external relationships and delivering through ambiguity and cross-functional influence.
  • Clear communication, sound judgement and the ability to turn broad direction into defined work and recommendations.

Our vision is to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that shaped our history continues into our future. Our multi-year transformation programme aims to turn Rolls-Royce into a high-performing, competitive, resilient and growing company. Join us, and it can be your future vision too.
