Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to improving sustainability performance in your assigned area of responsibility. Each day, you will support the implementation of the group-wide sustainability strategy and business-specific priorities by applying in-depth knowledge and offering solutions and advice. You will also showcase your expertise by providing feedback to the management and employees on lessons learned and best practices from within your own unit and across ABB.
The work model for the role is: onsite
This role is contributing to the Operations HSE Management in both Frosinone & Ferentino ABB Sites. Main stakeholders are operational employees, managers and HSE team; externally from analytical laboratories and consultants to regulatory authorities
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure company operations comply with Italian environmental laws, primarily the Legislative Decree 152/2006 and regional regulations.
- Permitting & Authorizations: Manage and coordinate, in collaboration with the Facility Management, key environmental permits, including AUA and water discharge management (Title IV).
- Waste Management: Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste management ensuring, with the collaboration of the Facility Management, proper classification, labeling, temporary storage, and tracking through the national systems ( RENTRI / registers).
- ISO 14001 & ISO 50001: Conduct internal compliance audits, identify operational gaps, and implement corrective action plans. Manage both the ISO 14001 & ISO 50001 Management Systems.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Liaison: Collaborate with the HSE Manager and external authorities during inspections and controls.
- Training & Awareness: Provide ongoing training to internal staff and weekly to customers regarding best environmental & sustainability practices in our ABB sites.
- Assisting in reporting sustainability progress at Business, Country and Division level with respect to the implementation of the group-level sustainability objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as required.
- Supporting and driving behavioral change through the local implementation of group-wide and business-specific programs and practices to ensure a strong focus on sustainability matters, across your respective organization.
- Contributing to and/or planning and executing sustainability-related projects.
- Developing project objectives and reporting the progress to management.
Qualifications for the role:
- You are highly skilled in Environmental Management
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 1-2 years of professional experience in an environmental role within manufacturing, industrial sectors, or environmental consulting firms in Italy.
- Legal Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Italian environmental legislation, specifically Legislative Decree no. 152/2006 (Testo Unico Ambientale), waste management & emissions regulations.
- Certifications (Preferred): Possession of an Auditor/Lead Auditor certification for ISO 14001 & ISO 50001 or experience with EMAS.
- IT & Systems: Proficiency in digital environmental tools and systems (e.g., electronic waste registries, RENTRI).
- Language Skills: Fluent in Italian (mandatory for dealing with local authorities and text comprehension) and strong professional proficiency in English .
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Good communication and stakeholder management abilities; Ability to interface effectively with public authorities (ARPA, Provinces, Regions).
- You're passionate about environmental aspects and efficient energy management
Compensation Package

Applicable CBA: Metalmeccanico
Minimum annual salary: 36.000€
Variable Pay: Eligible for Company Productivity Bonus
