Working for Annapurna Labs is thrilling, fast-paced, and a constant learning experience. As an ENA Drivers SW development engineer, you will be responsible for developing kernel-space and user-space network drivers, running on the customer’s virtual machines. You will develop features for Annapurna Labs next-generation hardware to enable high network bandwidth and packets-per-seconds (PPS) performance with consistently low latency. As an ENA Drivers SW development engineer, you will play a key role in shaping SW designs, keep-up with new features and enhancements provided by various operating systems, and help resolve complex customer issues. You will continuously evolve technically, while working to monitor AWS cloud health, maintain high-quality standards, develop highly-optimized code, and provide exceptional customer satisfaction.

Our products are at the heart of the cloud, playing a key role, and used by millions and millions of customers!

ENA drivers are available for all supported operating systems (e.g. Linux, Windows, DPDK, FreeBSD, MacOS, …) and run on the host virtual machine. The Linux, DPDK, and FreeBSD ENA drivers are open-source and available in the official Amazon drivers github and corresponding operating systems’ repositories. The ENA drivers are responsible to manage the interface between the Nitro controller and the virtual instance, manage resources and configurations, and implement various networking enhanced features. A SW engineer in ENA Drivers team will design, develop, and upstream new features for AWS Nitro servers, work with internal and external customers, and continuously invest efforts in maintaining high-quality operational bar.

Basic qualifications

  • - B.Sc. degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
  • - 5+ years of professional experience in SW development
  • - Strong hands-on experience in C development, with a mindset for developing optimized code

Preferred qualifications

  • - Experience with coding/scripting in one or more languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, Ruby, or PowerShell)
  • - 5+ years of embedded firmware development experience
  • - Experience with general troubleshooting/debugging of hardware, or experience writing low level drivers
  • - Experience with performance and log analysis
  • - Experience developing in a Linux environment and in utilizing virtual machines
  • - Experience in Linux and Networking protocols
