The Civil Digital Modernisation business delivers IT services to Australian Federal and State Government departments and agencies to accelerate digital modernisation and ensure secure, resilient, and adaptive environments that meet evolving regulatory, compliance, and business needs. Our approach integrates advancing data, AI, cloud, and automation delivering agility, security, efficiency, and innovation at scale.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to play a key role in the design, deployment and ongoing support of a new enterprise VMware platform within a complex and highly secure technology environment. Working as part of a collaborative infrastructure team, you will help deliver a modern virtualisation capability that supports critical applications and business services.
- Contribute to the design, build and implementation of a VMware platform, supporting compute, storage, networking and security integration requirements.
- Configure, administer and optimise VMware technologies including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, NSX and vSAN to deliver a secure, scalable and resilient environment.
- Work closely with infrastructure, network, security and application teams to support platform integration, operational readiness and ongoing service improvements.
- Support the transition from project delivery to business-as-usual operations by developing automation, documentation, monitoring and support processes that enable long-term platform sustainability.
About You
You are an experienced VMware infrastructure professional who enjoys working across platform design, implementation and operational support. You bring practical experience administering enterprise virtualisation environments and are comfortable troubleshooting complex issues while contributing to ongoing platform improvement.
Essential
- Experience administering and supporting enterprise VMware environments, including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, NSX and vSAN.
- Capability in the design, implementation and support of virtualisation platforms, including compute, storage and networking components.
- Experience delivering infrastructure platforms from build and configuration through to operational support.
- Knowledge of platform operations, including monitoring, patching, backup, recovery and lifecycle management.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex infrastructure and virtualisation issues.
- Ability to contribute to scalable, resilient and supportable platform designs that align with operational requirements.
- Experience using automation and scripting tools such as PowerCLI, PowerShell or infrastructure-as-code approaches.
- Understanding of platform security, hardening standards, access controls and compliance requirements.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with network, security, cloud and application teams.
- Well-developed communication skills and the ability to document technical solutions, operational procedures and support processes.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent practical experience.
Advantageous
- VMware certifications such as VCP, VCAP or equivalent industry-recognised certifications.
- Experience working within government, defence or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience supporting the transition of platforms from project delivery into operational support.
- Exposure to large-scale, multi-vendor infrastructure environments.
This role requires Australian Citizenship and a current NV1 Security Clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain an NV2 Security Clearance.
