About the role....

This is genuinely a role that doesn’t arise often.

Are you a Systems Engineer with a passion for Space? Looking for a role where you can learn about and shape new satellite technologies? Love working on new, short term, projects on a regular basis? Then we have a role for you!

You will be joining a small group with a start-up feel within the Airbus world working on space missions from concept through early-phase design supporting the growth of new programmes.

You will work closely with a range of customers, Universities and small companies to explore futuristic highly technical products that’ll shape the future of the UK Space domain.

How you will contribute to the team…

Define early mission architectures, leading feasibility studies both from a technical and project management standpoint, and contributing to winning new business opportunities through both technical and bid management

Depending on your skills and passions this role can focus on one or more of the following:

  • Mission Concept & Early-Phase Design - Develop end-to-end mission concepts including system-level trade studies and define architecture
  • Future Programmes & Innovation - Identify and develop new mission and technology opportunities. Engage with partners, agencies, and customers.
  • Bids, Proposals & Customer Engagement - Support and lead technical aspects of bids and proposals. Present concepts to internal stakeholders and external customers. Collaborate with commercial, legal, finance, procurement and other technical teams.
  • Systems Engineering Leadership - Apply systems engineering principles across early lifecycle phases. Ensure concepts are technically credible, cost-effective, and deliverable. Perform mission analysis with Modelling & Simulation tools

About you?

  • Experience of technical studies
  • Strong Systems Engineering background from Space, Aerospace, Advanced Manufacturing, or similar
  • Experience of interpreting engineering trade-offs and system budgets
  • Curious and forward-thinking with strong interest in future space capabilities
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and early-stage concepts, including a varied pace of work - some periods can be quiet, others can be intense.

Not a 100% match? No worries! Airbus supports your personal growth with customised development solutions.
