The Systems Engineer is responsible for the technical ownership, design, coordination, implementation, and successful execution of network and physical security integration projects from initial construction survey through final project closeout. This role combines enterprise network engineering with advanced video surveillance and physical security systems expertise, with a strong emphasis on Genetec Security Center, Genetec Omnicast, and IP video surveillance.

The Systems Engineer works closely with project teams, contractors, security vendors, and technology partners to design and implement secure, scalable, and highly available network and video surveillance environments. Responsibilities include conducting construction and security surveys, reviewing architectural and engineering drawings, developing network and camera designs, validating camera placement and coverage requirements, preparing Bills of Materials (BoMs), reviewing MDF/IDF telecommunications spaces, overseeing field integration, and producing accurate as-built and CADD documentation.

The role requires hands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting Genetec Security Center and Omnicast environments, including Security Center architecture, video management,Archivers, cameras, recording infrastructure, user access, system connectivity, and integration with the underlying network infrastructure.

This position serves as a security technical lead within the field engineering team and is responsible for mentoring technical staff, coordinating vendors, driving process improvements, implementing automation, and maintaining consistent communication. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong network and security systems expertise, leadership, sound decision-making, and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic construction and technology environment.

Work Schedule

The standard work schedule for this position is 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM to support project implementation and operational requirements.

During school breaks, summer months, or as required to support business operations and project activities, the work schedule will transition to 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM .

Travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City and reporting to Long Island Head Quarters is required. Role can change to reporting to HQ only.

Employees are expected to maintain a flexible work schedule and may be required to work adjusted hours based on project timelines, construction schedules, security system deployments, maintenance windows, emergency response, or other business and operational requirements.

SALARY: $80,000 - $85,000

What You'll Do:

Provide technical ownership, resource planning, coordination, and oversight for all technical aspects of assigned network and physical security integration projects from construction survey through final integration and project closeout.

Implement, configure, test, and troubleshoot IP video surveillance, related physical security infrastructure, enterprise network and wireless.

Support Genetec Security Center and Omnicast video surveillance environments, ensuring solutions meet customer, project, security, and infrastructure requirements.

What You Bring:

Minimum of 4+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise network infrastructure, network integration, field implementation, and technical documentation.

Genetec Security Center / Omnicast Technical Certification.

Demonstrated hands-on experience implementing, configuring, integrating, and troubleshooting enterprise IP video surveillance systems.

Hands-on experience with Genetec Security Center and/or Genetec Omnicast, including system configuration, camera integration, video recording, troubleshooting, and system validation.

Strong understanding of video surveillance architecture, including IP cameras, video management systems, recording infrastructure, network connectivity, storage, bandwidth, and PoE requirements.

Experience troubleshooting Genetec and IP surveillance issues across the application, server, camera, and network layers.

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is required.

Demonstrated commitment to advancing technical expertise and pursuing Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification as part of continued professional development.

Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Ability to work in active construction and new construction environments while conducting surveys, inspections, installations, testing, and network/security integration activities.

Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing 10 pounds or more and safely use ladders when required.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction blueprints throughout all phases of the design and construction process.

Experience analyzing architectural and engineering drawings, particularly electrical, telecommunications, low-voltage, security, camera, and data infrastructure layouts.

Strong understanding of enterprise networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, switching, routing, VLANs, WLAN, firewalls, PoE, network segmentation, and related infrastructure.

Hands-on experience designing, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting LAN and WLAN environments.

Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Cisco and Cisco Meraki technologies, including:

Experience performing Cisco IOS and network device firmware upgrades and downgrades.

Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement within engineering and IT operations.

Experience developing or maintaining scripts used to automate technical, administrative, reporting, or engineering processes.

Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and decision-making skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues spanning network, server, application, camera, and physical infrastructure layers.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately document network and security configurations, designs, installations, changes, and project activities.

Proven ability to coordinate security vendors, installation contractors, equipment deliveries, and multiple technical workstreams while maintaining project schedules and quality requirements.

Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently, provide technical leadership in the field, and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.

Preferred

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.

Advanced hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise Genetec Security Center environments.

Experience with Genetec Security Center architecture, Directory and Archiver roles, video management, camera integrations, recording infrastructure, and system health monitoring.

Experience designing large-scale IP video surveillance environments.

Experience integrating multiple camera manufacturers and models with Genetec platforms.
