Systems Engineering Intern - Summer 2027

All interns will work directly alongside full-time engineers on real, engaging, and impactful projects, providing tangible value to Lunar Outpost products. This internship offers a truly end-to-end experience that promotes collaboration at every stage of autonomous robotic development.

Working Conditions / Schedule: This position is required to be onsite Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Where applicable, employees may work remotely on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be required based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with requirements development, decomposition, and traceability to ensure customer requirements are satisfied

Assist with planning and execution of validation and verification for customer requirements

Learn the systems engineering lifecycle through supporting technical teams in the development, documentation, building, testing, and verification of rover subsystems, payloads, and ground systems

Support test plan development and creation in support of V&V activities

Support other systems engineering tasks, such as ConOps development, and interface definition between teams

Support system and lower-level requirements management, including change control, audits, and coordination with other teams

Qualifications:

Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to work methodically in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Can effectively demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills, while also excelling in collaboration and teamwork in an interdisciplinary environment

Exhibits strong organizational and time management skills under pressure and in stressful situations

Fueled by a passion for space exploration and the boundless possibilities beyond our world

Desired Qualifications:

Familiarity with the Systems Engineering Process

Understanding of fundamental test and evaluation processes

Early-June (June 7, 2027) to late August (August 20, 2027). Start and end dates are flexible with the intern's school schedule. This is an in-person internship; Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM in Golden, Colorado.
