Description

JOB SUMMARY

The TanDeck Technical Sales Engineer supports distributors, dealers, and installers in the effective use of Tangent’s HDPE TanDeck decking product line. This role combines technical expertise, customer engagement, and training development, serving as a key bridge between the market and Tangent’s Engineering team — partnering with distributors, dealers, and installers to provide design solutions, identifying the best applications for Tangent’s materials, and delivering training that ensures customer success. This is a remote, field-based role requiring up to 75% travel.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Serve as the primary technical resource for distributors, dealers, and installers on TanDeck products.

· Act as the bridge between the market and Engineering, representing field feedback, performance issues, and customer needs to Engineering, and communicating engineering and product decisions back out to the channel.

· Collaborate with distributors, dealers, and installers on install solutions, including substructure recommendations, installation techniques, and material selection for TanDeck decking systems.

· Support installers with installation best practices, fastening/fabrication guidance, and jobsite troubleshooting.

· Support new product launches by training distributors, dealers, and installers on what changed, why, and how it affects specification or installation.

· Investigate and help resolve field performance complaints (e.g., expansion/contraction, fastener or installation challenges) in coordination with Engineering, Production, and Quality.

· Support code compliance and testing documentation (e.g., ICC-ES reports, span tables, fire ratings) for architects, builders, and code officials.

· Develop training documents, manuals, and technical resources to support distributor, dealer, and installer education.

· Create and deliver presentations, in person and virtual, to train distributor and dealer networks on best practices and product line differences.

· Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, technical support requests, and solutions provided.

· Gather field and channel feedback and communicate insights to Product, Engineering, and R&D teams to support continuous improvement.

· Represent the company at industry trade shows, dealer events, and technical workshops.
