Tax Engine is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Tax Analyst to join our team in São Paulo. In this role, you will own end-to-end tax engine configurations, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure tax compliance across Brazil's complex indirect tax landscape — including readiness for the upcoming Tax Reform (IBS/CBS). You will work with tax technology platforms, manage tax rules and rate configurations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver accurate tax calculations impacting millions of transactions. You will also have the opportunity to leverage AI tools to drive productivity and innovation in your day-to-day work.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • - Configure, test, and deploy tax engine rules and rate updates for Brazilian indirect taxes (PIS, COFINS, ICMS, IPI, ISS).
  • - Support the implementation and configuration of Brazil's Tax Reform (IBS and CBS) within the tax engine.
  • - Troubleshoot and resolve tax calculation issues through structured root-cause analysis, driving each case to resolution or escalation.
  • - Validate configurations through testing tools and ensure quality through peer review and pre-deployment sign-off.
  • - Monitor tax engine health through regression testing and proactive error detection.
  • - Communicate transparently — provide accurate, verifiable status updates on deployments and support cases.
  • - Collaborate with the team — participate in meetings, share knowledge, and flag blockers early.
  • - Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and triage processes.

Basic qualifications

  • - Bachelor's degree
  • - Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
  • - Experience in tax, finance or a related analytical field
  • - Speak, write, and read fluently in English at C1 level or above

Preferred qualifications

  • - Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
  • - Knowledge of at least one data-focused technology tool, such as Python, SQL, Alteryx, Amazon QuickSight, or similar
  • - Can work proactively and independently, meet deadlines, and deliver on projects and tasks
  • - Maintaining and operating transaction tax calculation software (e.g. Vertex) experience
