Description

Pope St. John Paul II Catholic Academy , a Catholic elementary school serving grades PK-8, is seeking qualified and faith-filled Substitute Teachers to support student learning during teacher absences. The ideal candidate will uphold the mission and values of Catholic education, foster a nurturing classroom environment, and deliver instruction aligned with the school's academic and spiritual goals.

KEY Responsibilities:

• •Provide instruction based on lesson plans prepared by the regular teacher.
• •Maintain classroom order and promote a positive, respectful, and faith-centered environment.
• •Incorporate Catholic values into interactions and classroom management.
• •Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
• •Supervise students in various settings, including the classroom, lunchroom, and outdoor recess areas.
• •Communicate effectively with school staff and leave a summary of the day for the returning teacher.

Qualifications:

• •A Bachelor’s degree is required.
• •A Valid teaching credential or substitute permit is preferred.
• •Prior teaching or classroom experience preferred.
• •Practicing Catholic or committed to supporting the mission of Catholic education.
• •Ability to follow lesson plans, manage a classroom, and adapt to a range of grade levels (PreK–8).
• •Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualities:

• •Understanding of and commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• •Experience working in faith-based or private school environments.
• •Flexibility, reliability, and a collaborative spirit.

Working Conditions:

• •School hours are typically from 7:45am to 3:00pm; however, they may vary.
• •Must be able to supervise and interact with young children for extended periods.
• •May be called on short notice depending on staffing needs.
