[What the role is]

Ngee Ann Polytechnic's Centre for Environmental Sustainability (CfES) works closely with companies and industry partners to develop, adapt and optimise practical sustainability solutions in areas such as sustainable materials, resource recovery, circular economy and environmental technologies. The Centre supports companies through technical consultancy, capability development and project-based collaborations focused on solving sustainability-related challenges.

We are looking for a hands-on and organized Technical Executive to support laboratory operations, materials processing activities, equipment management, procurement and project administration within the Materials Technology team.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy practical technical work, working with equipment, supporting projects and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of laboratory and workshop facilities. It is primarily an operations and technical support role rather than a research position.

This is a 2-year contract position with the Centre for Environmental Sustainability.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supporting industry projects and technical consultancy assignments through laboratory, workshop and testing activities.
  • Operating and maintaining laboratory and process equipment used for materials processing and testing.
  • Conducting sample preparation, materials processing, testing and data collection activities.
  • Managing laboratory resources, including equipment, consumables, chemicals and inventory, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Supporting procurement, vendor coordination and project administration activities.
  • Maintaining laboratory safety, documentation and operational records in accordance with established procedures.
  • Working closely with engineers, technical specialists and industry partners to support project delivery and operational excellence.

[What we are looking for]

  • Nitec, Higher Nitec or Diploma in Materials Technology, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Good hands-on technical aptitude and interest in laboratory, manufacturing or process operations.
  • Able to work effectively in a laboratory and workshop environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

The following will be an advantage:

  • Familiarity with polymer processing, composite manufacturing, extrusion, injection moulding or related manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with standard materials testing techniques and laboratory equipment.
  • Experience supporting laboratory operations, equipment maintenance, procurement or project administration activities.
  • Experience in manufacturing, testing, engineering or technical service environments.
