Technical Illustrator

Major Responsibilities

• •Convert engineering CAD data, mechanical drawings, and wiring schematics into precise, easy‑to‑understand visual formats.
• •Collaborate with engineering, service technicians, and technical writers to ensure accuracy of component representations including alternators, engines, controllers, transfer switches, and enclosures.
• •Ensure all illustrations comply with safety labeling standards and industry regulations (e.g., OSHA, UL, NFPA 110).
• •Maintain and update asset libraries, illustration standards, and visual design templates.
• •Revise documentation to support product changes, new models, and expanded service procedures.
• •Create vector-based icons, labels, and safety graphics.
• •Support animation or interactive 3D model projects to enhance training and troubleshooting materials.

Minimum Job Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Technical Illustration, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.

Work Experience

3+ years of relevant work experience

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• •Ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy;
• •Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical components, especially engines, wiring, and power systems.
• •Ability to translate technical information to all audiences;
• •Able to solve moderate to complex engineering problems;
• •Good decision-making skills;
• •Technical Skills to include 3D modeling (Creo Illustrate or similar);
• •MS Excel, MS Word; etc.;

Preferred Job Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Technical Illustration, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.

Work Experience

• •Experience creating wiring diagrams, control system schematics, or panel layouts.
• •Experience in new product design and development
• •Experience with structured content systems (DITA, MadCap Flare, FrameMaker) for documentation.
• •Experience with 3D modeling such as Creo Illustrate or SolidWorks
• •Experience with service BoM’s and provisioning of spare parts
• •Experience with field service, maintenance, and training
• •Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP
