We are moving beyond a traditional LMS support model to a modern, connected, AI-enabled learning ecosystem that supports employees, field teams, dealers, experience center teams, and external learning communities across multiple regions.
As our Technical Lead, Learning Systems, you will play a pivotal role in shaping that future. This is an opportunity to lead the strategy, architecture, and modernization of an enterprise learning ecosystem spanning LMS, LXP, LCMS, LRS, content platforms, analytics, automation, and emerging AI and simulation capabilities.
You will help define how intelligent technologies, scalable platforms, and connected data systems come together to create more personalized, efficient, and impactful learning experiences. We’re looking for a strategic, hands-on technology leader with a strong foundation in enterprise platforms, systems integration, architecture, and modern engineering practices, along with a strong interest in emerging AI capabilities and their practical application. You are energized by complexity and excited by the opportunity to define and deliver a multi-year learning technology roadmap that goes far beyond application support.
You know how to connect business needs to technical solutions, navigate cross-functional environments, and build trusted partnerships across Learning & Development, HR, IT, Security, Data, and business teams. You bring a product mindset, a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to move from concept to production-ready solution with a focus on scalability, security, and long-term sustainability. You are equally comfortable modernizing core platforms, evaluating emerging technologies, and identifying where AI, automation, and intelligent workflows can create measurable value across the learning ecosystem.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead the technology strategy and roadmap for Toyota Financial Services’ enterprise learning ecosystem, with a focus on scalable, connected, and AI-enabled capabilities.
- Define and maintain the target architecture for a secure, integrated, and scalable learning technology landscape.
- Lead the design, development, and integration of learning platforms and connected enterprise systems, including data and workflow automation across the ecosystem.
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders in an Agile environment to translate business needs into technical solutions and delivery plans.
- Drive platform modernization and optimization to improve learner experience, operational efficiency, adoption, personalization, and scalability.
- Use modern engineering practices and AI-assisted development tools to rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on solutions where appropriate. (i.e. Kiro, GitHub Copilot)
- Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to apply AI, automation, and simulation capabilities to improve learning delivery, content operations, and learner engagement.
- Evolve early-stage concepts, pilots, and prototypes into production-ready, enterprise-scale solutions that meet standards for security, reliability, supportability, and long-term maintainability.
- Establish technical governance, standards, documentation, and release practices to support sustainable delivery, responsible innovation, and operational continuity.
- Oversee learning data, reporting, analytics, and automation to strengthen insights, measurement, and decision-making.
- Guide vendor evaluation, implementation planning, and technical decision-making across the learning technology ecosystem.
- Provide technical leadership, risk mitigation, and continuity across a complex, multi-year enterprise transformation.
- Mentor engineers and elevate team standards through technical leadership, knowledge sharing, and best practices in modern platform and AI-enabled solution development.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Learning Technologies, Instructional Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of experience in learning technology, enterprise platforms, systems integration, software/application architecture, or a related technical field.
- Proven experience leading or supporting enterprise learning ecosystems, including LMS and adjacent platforms such as LXP, LCMS, LRS, content technologies, and analytics tools.
- Experience building and managing multi-platform roadmaps that extend beyond system support into architecture, scalability, integration, and long-term capability planning.
- Strong software engineering foundation, including experience with application development, APIs, microservices, integration patterns, and modern backend technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, or similar.
- Experience delivering cloud-native applications on AWS or other major cloud platforms.
- Experience with reporting, analytics, and data automation in support of learning operations and business insights.
- Experience developing AI-driven workflows using large language models and modern AI platforms.
- Familiarity with prompt design, AI orchestration patterns, and approaches for grounding AI solutions in enterprise data and trusted content sources.
- Experience leading technical delivery across multiple workstreams, vendors, and stakeholder groups in a complex enterprise environment.
- Strong understanding of security, access controls, governance, compliance, and responsible technology practices for enterprise platforms.
- Experience documenting technical designs, architectural decisions, standards, and operational processes to ensure continuity and long-term supportability.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
- Experience operating in evolving environments where priorities, platforms, and business needs continue to expand.

- Experience with Litmos or similar enterprise LMS platforms.
- Experience with Learning Experience Platforms, Learning Content Management Systems, and Learning Record Stores.
- Familiarity with xAPI, SCORM, learning analytics,
