Boeing Vancouver is seeking a Technical Product Manager reporting to the Senior Manager of the Schedule Reliability Portfolio working out of the Richmond, British Columbia office.

As a Technical Product Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing a data-driven analytics platform that is a foundation to a suite of advanced products in the areas of airplane maintenance. You’ll work in a multidisciplinary team of domain SMEs, product managers, data scientists and developers. You have a strong desire to build robust and efficient systems. You’re energized by working with multiple stakeholders using their inputs as a basis for the platform roadmap.

You have a keen interest in data analytics, and building products to unlock the value in airplane data. You’re an outstanding communicator who will be the voice of the Technical Product Team both internally and externally, and an excellent team player and positive influencer who works hard to build rapport with customers, teammates and stakeholders.

The Technical Product Manager will drive platform strategy and be responsible for building out core capabilities through analysis and understanding of the products we develop, new technologies and customer business issues.. You’ll lead the Core platform roadmap, prioritizing multiple team’s requirements and dependencies collaborating with product development to build out the core common features across products, monitoring, CI/CD pipeline, Internal Tools and the data processing pipeline. The ideal candidate will apply principles of product management to infrastructure and platforms, with the end customers being product managers and the software development team, brining rigour, velocity and transparency to every layer of the stack.

Boeing Vancouver houses a small but mighty product team, bringing new products to market that enable customers to perform advanced analytics on full-flight airplane sensor data. We’re combining data science expertise and a sharp focus on business impact, with empathy for our customers’ day-to-day struggles, to define a new way of working with airplane data. Together, we deliver the power of understanding to change the world above and on the ground.

The platform is built on an Azure-hosted Databricks Lakehouse, unifying federated domain data under a governed Unity Catalog. The Digital Services team's products are first-class consumers of this platform. The TPM will maintain a clear line of sight between the product portfolio and the shared Data Platform roadmap, ensuring platform capabilities are sequenced to unlock the highest-value product outcomes.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Core Team roadmap; develop and document platform features as input to the development process.
  • Manage internal platform stakeholders and achieve the required consensus and approvals to drive platform development forward.
  • Communicate with product teams to understand needs and pain points, and gather data pipeline and core capabilities feedback.
  • Lead Proof-of-Concept studies to evaluate next generation product capabilities and own a PoC evaluation framework with clear graduation criteria for promoting validated experiments into product grade platform features.
  • Own and maintain a platform prioritization governance model; define the forum membership, intake criteria, and dependency-tracking process used to sequence work across multiple consuming product teams.
  • Define and execute a CI/CD and platform observability strategy including pipeline health monitoring, deployment automation, and internal tooling so that platform reliability is measurable and continuously improving.
  • Establish a PoC evaluation framework with clear graduation criteria for promoting experimental capabilities (e.g. from the Hackathon/Sandbox domain) into production-grade platform features.
  • Define the team and customer onboarding pathway for the Data Platform including self-service catalogue access, tiered support tiers, and training materials so consuming teams reach first value quickly.
  • Work directly with the software development team to define and implement new capabilities.
  • Own the requirements process end-to-end PRDs, acceptance criteria, backlog structure, and SDLC stage gates leveraging AI-assisted tooling to accelerate quality and consistency across platform and product teams.
  • Support the sales and marketing teams in communicating and demonstrating capabilities to customers as part of sales engagements and at conferences.
  • Champion a culture of quality, learning, trust, and collaboration.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at Richmond location. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
