Are you passionate about technology, engineering and operational excellence? Would you like to help Amazon customers meet their daily needs? If you answered yes, Amazon’s Worldwide Grocery Stores Tech (WWGST) organization is looking for a Technical Program Manager (TPM) like you.

At WWGST, we are solving a fundamental need for customers - food and nutrition. We serve millions of customers around the planet by making it easier to solve their grocery needs through multiple offerings that meet them where needed. Whether it’s online or in-person, multiple brands, or supporting omni-channel shopping missions, we want Amazon to be the go-to relationship.

In this role, you will drive key engineering initiatives for the Identity and Access Management (IAM) team including the development and execution of excellence goals, operational planning, security fortification and technical readiness. Each of these areas are critical to ensure we can reliably serve our customers while continuing to innovate on our portfolio of solutions. You will work across the WWGST organization in partnership with tech teams and leadership to ensure we can deliver on this promise.

This is a unique opportunity for someone interested in working in an entrepreneurial environment to drive deliverables with visibility and impact. The successful candidate will possess a strong program management background, have demonstrated experience leading large programs, and have a well-rounded technical background.

As a Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for delivering programs with medium complexity and/or those that have broad cross-organizational, global, or technology impact. Your work will focus on large product, process and engineering efforts that solve complex problems. You will be trusted to operate with complete independence and are often assigned to focus on areas where the business and/or technical strategy has not yet been defined.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • - Drive high priority, complex projects across many teams.
  • - Work with business owners to define requirements.
  • - Collaborate with tech teams on technical design.
  • - Own the program execution and delivery process, including how to deliver iteratively, early and often.
  • - Help resolve blockers to program delivery.
  • - Proactively identify and mitigate project risks by anticipating challenges and taking ownership of outcomes.
  • - Effectively partner with all levels of leadership.
  • - Able to represent, verbally and in writing, complex decisions, trade-offs, and potential solutions clearly to leaders to help them understand the decisions they have to make and the options they have.
  • - Influence organizational priorities, system owners, business, and technology direction.
  • - Manage cross-functional communication to ensure all stakeholders are informed and needs aligned.
  • - Recognize when current programs are susceptible to prior failure patterns and actively steer leadership to avoid repeating these failures.
  • - Know when a design or solution requires additional technical guidance and seek their input.
  • - Show excellent judgment in driving executive-level escalations.
  • - Deliver solutions that meet Amazon high standards for customer satisfaction, efficiency, stability, extensibility, simplicity, and operational excellence.
  • - Amplify your impact by educating the TPM and engineering communities (within your organization as well as more broadly) on program management best practices.
  • - Participate, sharing knowledge and collaborating with other TPMs, specifically attending and/or presenting at internal conferences.
  • About the team
  • WWGST's IAM Operational Excellence team's objective is to unify identity and security and integrate that unity into data, applications, & technology building blocks. We deliver an architecture that supports seamless authentication, fine-grained authorization and adaptive access control supporting modern, legacy applications and data consumption requirements. We simplify the service by providing the right access, to the right people, at the right time, for the right reason, at the right cost.
