Technical Project Manager — Robotics Programs

Hyderabad, India · Full-time · On-site with real robots

Orchestrate the System Behind the Robot

A strong robotics program is built on more than individual effort. It depends on making cross-functional dependencies visible early, aligning technical decisions with build plans, and ensuring that each milestone has a clear path to completion.

For example, a target such as ‘building 25 PR-Uno robot arms’ or ‘release the next variant of PR-Omni’ is not simply a quantity and a date. It is a coordinated program involving design maturity, drawings and BOM readiness, manufacturing capacity, material availability, assembly, quality checks, testing, integration, and the downstream systems that depend on those arms.

Perceptyne is building industrial humanoid robots that can do real physical work: assembly, manipulation, packaging, and other tasks that still rely heavily on human hands. Doing that requires tightly coordinated mechanical systems, motors and gearboxes, electronics, embedded firmware, perception, AI, controls, software, manufacturing, integration, and deployment.

We are looking for a Technical Project Manager who can see the whole system, plan ahead, maintain a reliable picture of execution, and make sure dependencies and risks are visible early enough for the right people to act.

If you enjoy taking complex, cross-functional work and turning it into a clear, current, actionable plan, this is that role.

What You’ll Actually Do

You will own the internal project-planning system for key robot programs—from concept and design through manufacturing, integration, testing, pilot readiness, and deployment.

This is not a role where you only maintain a tracker or ask for status updates. Your job is to convert goals into an executable plan, preserve a reliable view of reality as it changes, identify dependencies and schedule risk early, and enable technical and business leaders to make timely decisions.

  • Own and maintain the master internal Gantt chart, milestone plan, dependency map, critical path, and project-status dashboard for major robot development and deployment programs.
  • Break high-level goals—such as “build 25 PR-Uno robot arms,” or “release the next PR-Omni variant,” or “prepare a customer pilot”—into concrete workstreams, deliverables, dependencies, owners, target dates, and acceptance criteria.
  • Build and maintain cross-functional dependency maps across mechanical design, manufacturing, electronics, embedded firmware, controls, perception, software, integration, validation, and deployment.
  • Track major build items from design release through manufacturing, incoming inspection, assembly, testing, and integration; ensure the current status, expected completion date, blockers, and next action are always clear.
  • Work with the procurement team to track quotations, orders, supplier confirmations, and lead times; work with manufacturing teams to track manufacturing progress, quality concerns, dispatch, shipment, and delivery.
  • Coordinate with engineering and functional leads to capture changes in scope, design releases, prototype iterations, test-fixture needs, firmware readiness, calibration requirements, integration capacity, and other schedule-affecting dependencies.
  • Maintain a structured log of milestones, risks, issues, decisions, assumptions, dependencies, owners, and next actions across active programs.
  • Identify schedule threats early, quantify their downstream impact where possible, and prepare clear mitigation options, trade-offs, and decision inputs for the relevant leaders.
  • Equip leadership with accurate, current data to run project reviews, weekly status meetings, milestone-readiness discussions, and escalation conversations—by preparing dashboards, timelines, dependency views, risk summaries, decision logs, and action trackers.
  • Record decisions and agreed actions from leadership and cross-functional discussions; maintain clear ownership, due dates, dependencies, and confirmation of completion.
  • Follow up rigorously on agreed commitments, ensuring that tasks are not only acknowledged or “in progress,” but completed, verified, and reflected accurately in the program plan.
  • Create practical mechanisms that make execution easier: build plans, release checklists, milestone criteria, project templates, status-report formats, escalation paths, action trackers, and planning cadences.
  • Help the team distinguish between “started,” “in progress,” “blocked,” “ready for review,” and “complete and accepted.”
  • Support planning and reporting across multiple robot builds, prototypes, development programs, customer pilots, and deployment workstreams as Perceptyne scales.

What We’re Looking For

You do not need to be the deepest specialist in robot kinematics, PCB design, motor control, or computer vision. But you must be technically curious enough to understand how those disciplines connect—and rigorous enough to represent their dependencies accurately and keep important commitments visible.

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in engineering, operations, manufacturing, industrial engineering, project management, or a related technical field—or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in technical project management, program management, engineering operations, product operations, NPI, manufacturing planning, or a similar execution-heavy role.
  • Experience supporting projects involving physical products, hardware, manufacturing, industrial systems, electronics, robotics, automotive, aerospace, consumer hardware, or other multi-disciplinary engineering environments.
  • Strong planning ability: you can turn an ambiguous objective into a practical work-breakdown structure, timeline, dependency model, ownership map, review gates, and measurable milestones.
  • A strong mental model of dependencies. You naturally ask: “What has to be true before this can start?”, “What could delay it?”, “Who needs to decide?”, and “What will this affect downstream?”
  • High diligence, ownership, grit, and persistence. You follow up until a required result is confirmed, and do not let important work disappear into vague status updates.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior technical leaders and functional owners without needing formal reporting authority; you earn trust through preparation, clarity, accuracy, follow-through, and sound judgement.
  • Working understanding of the interfaces between mechanical design, manufacturing, electrical/electronics, embedded systems, controls, software, computer vision, AI, and system integration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication. You can ask precise questions, summarize complex status clearly, document decisions, and escalate risks constructively.
  • Strong spreadsheet and project-planning skills; comfortable building and maintaining Gantt charts, dependency trackers, risk registers, dashboards, and milestone plans.
  • Comfort using tools such as Excel or Google Sheets, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, ClickUp, Jira, Asana, Notion, Monday.com, or similar planning and collaboration tools.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Hyderabad, close to the engineers, parts, manufacturing activity, and real robots.

Nice to Have

These are valuable but not mandatory. Apply if you are strong in the core requirements.

  • Experience in robotics, automation, electromechanical systems, automotive, aerospace, industrial machinery, manufacturing, or deep-tech hardware.
  • Experience working with multi-level bills of materials, engineering changes, part revisions, build configurations, PDM, PLM, MRP, ERP, or inventory systems.
  • Experience coordinating with contract manufacturers, machine shops, PCB vendors, assembly partners, component suppliers, logistics providers, or field-installation teams.
  • Familiarity with new-product introduction, design-for-manufacturing, prototype-to-production transitions, quality processes, incoming inspection, or production planning.
  • Experien
