Description

Position starting pay is $18.50/hour

Under the oversight of the MRI Supervisor and/or Lead Technologist, assists the MRI Technologist in performing a variety of duties and procedures necessary for the everyday operations of the MRI Department and patient schedule. Follows all MRI Safety Policies. Screens patients, obtains pertinent clinical history before MRI examination and reviews with the MRI Technologist. Greets patients in a prompt and courteous manner. Assists patient with changing for the exam. Assists in sliding patient on and off stretcher to MRI scan table. Assists Technologist with positioning of patients. Assists Technologist in changing MRI coils. Assists patient in and out of the scan room. Transports patient when needed. Conducts proper discharge of patient. Assists in monitoring safe access to the MRI suite. Ensures the stocking of scan rooms and linen closets. Completes special projects as requested by management. Read and responds to all e-mails appropriately.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma
  • Graduate of an accredited phlebotomy, certified nursing assistant or medical assistant program desired.
  • Hospital experience with a general knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Basic Life Support Certification required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must maintain a professional manner and appearance
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work in a healthcare setting
  • Basic knowledge of personal computer (PC) systems, ability to learn basic scheduling software, and work with word processing applications
  • Medical terminology helpful
  • Demonstrated skills in customer service

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND ENVIRONMENT

Active: Often lifts up to 50 pounds independently. Frequently pushes/pulls 100 pounds. Stands or walks most of the time. Exhibits fine motor skills and manual dexterity necessary to perform the essential job functions of the position. Hazard of radiation exposure, film badge worn to monitor amount of exposure.

EXPOSURE RISK

Exposure Category I: Employee at risk for exposure to blood borne pathogens.

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

  • Maintains current knowledge of the hospital-wide Quality Improvement Program.
  • Collaborates with management to improve the effectiveness of the department through the Quality Improvement plans and processes.
  • Participates in the departmental and hospital-wide Quality Improvement activities as directed by the manager.

COMPLIANCE

  • Adheres to the federal, state, and local statutes and regulations.
  • Adheres to the Compliance Program policies and procedures of Down East Community.
  • Adheres to all Privacy and Security policies and procedures of Down East Community.
  • Communicates any concern related to compliance issues to manager of department or Compliance Officer.
  • Communicates any concern related to confidentiality issues to the Privacy Officer.
