Who we are looking for

We are seeking an Assistant Vice President, Technology Process Re-Engineering, to support priority process mapping and re-engineering initiatives across State Street Global Technology Services. Reporting to a Vice President in the Technology Process Re-Engineering team, this role will perform detailed process analysis, develop and complete required documentation, and support practical improvements that simplify execution, strengthen controls, and improve operational transparency.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technology process improvement professional with experience in process mapping, documentation, data analysis, and project delivery within a large, complex, and regulated organization. This individual must be able to gather information from multiple sources, translate it into accurate current-state and future-state process documentation, and complete assigned deliverables to established quality and timing expectations.

This is a hands-on GTS-facing delivery role that will work closely with technology process owners, risk partners, platform teams, and global delivery organizations. The Assistant Vice President will use the standards, templates, tools, and governance established by the Technology Process Re-Engineering leadership team to complete process maps, supporting documentation, analyses, status updates, and implementation tracking for assigned initiatives.

What you will be responsible for

GTS Technology Process Mapping Delivery

  • Use the GTS technology process mapping methodology, standards, taxonomy, templates, and tools to document assigned processes consistently and accurately.
  • Create and maintain detailed end-to-end process maps that document activities, roles, systems, handoffs, controls, inputs, outputs, pain points, and performance indicators.
  • Complete assigned process mapping and re-engineering deliverables, coordinate inputs from subject matter experts, incorporate review comments, and ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and delivered on schedule.

Process Re-engineering, Optimization & Control Improvement

  • Perform structured process analysis to identify duplication, fragmentation, manual workarounds, unclear ownership, control gaps, and opportunities to simplify, standardize, or automate execution.
  • Prepare materials for and participate in working sessions with GTS process owners and transformation teams; capture decisions, requirements, dependencies, issues, and actions, and update process documentation accordingly.
  • Document future-state process designs, roles and responsibilities, control requirements, implementation actions, and measurable outcomes under the direction of the Vice President leading the initiative.

Governance, Quality & Reporting

  • Maintain assigned process maps, supporting documentation, action logs, decision records, and repositories so that materials remain current, traceable, validated, and aligned to GTS standards and control expectations.
  • Compile accurate status updates and reporting on process coverage, deliverable completion, open actions, dependencies, risks, and improvement opportunities; promptly escalate gaps or delays to the Vice President leading the work.

Stakeholder Engagement & Change Adoption

  • Work collaboratively with GTS technology, risk, operations, and delivery teams to gather information, validate process details, resolve documentation gaps, and support agreement on current-state and future-state materials.
  • Follow up on assigned actions, maintain clear records of decisions and approvals, and support implementation and adoption activities by producing clear procedures, job aids, and other required documentation.

What we value

  • Technology Process Delivery: Demonstrated ability to complete detailed process mapping, analysis, and documentation assignments within a large, matrixed technology organization.
  • Re-engineering Mindset: Ability to identify process inefficiencies, document root causes, and develop practical improvement options with guidance from senior team members.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with subject matter experts and stakeholders, ask precise questions, incorporate feedback, and drive assigned actions to completion.
  • Risk and Control Orientation: Working knowledge of how process design, ownership, controls, metrics, and supporting evidence contribute to operational resilience and a sound control environment.
  • Documentation and Communication: Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills, with the ability to create clear process maps, procedures, meeting materials, status updates, and supporting records.
  • Analytical Rigor: Ability to review process data, control evidence, performance indicators, handoffs, and stakeholder input; reconcile inconsistencies; and produce accurate, fact-based outputs.
  • Execution Discipline: Ability to manage multiple assignments, maintain detailed action and decision logs, meet deadlines, respond to feedback, and consistently deliver complete, high-quality documentation.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in technology process improvement, process mapping, business analysis, operational excellence, technology transformation, project delivery, or risk-aligned remediation initiatives within large organizations.
  • Experience completing complex process documentation and project deliverables, preferably within financial services, technology, operations, risk management, or another highly regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of process mapping and re-engineering methods such as BPMN, SIPOC, value stream mapping, Lean, Six Sigma, business capability mapping, operating model design, or related disciplines.
  • Experience using process standards, templates, repositories, governance routines, action trackers, and reporting tools to maintain complete and auditable records.
  • Experience working with globally distributed technology teams and coordinating effectively with stakeholders across GTS, risk, operations, and business-aligned technology functions.
