Temporary Position (.37 FTE, ~14 hours/Week)

The temporary Researcher position will support a multidisciplinary research team conducting epidemiologic research on environmental exposures and cancer outcomes. The position will work closely with the Principal Investigator, Co-Investigators, and collaborating faculty to support all phases of the IRB-approved research process, including study design and implementation, data management, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, and dissemination of research findings.

The position will receive mentorship in advanced epidemiologic methods, environmental exposure assessment, GIS applications, qualitative research methods, and scientific writing. The position will also contribute to scientific manuscript preparation, development of research products, presentation of findings at scientific meetings, and publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the PI and Co-Investigators on study design, protocol development, and implementation. Assist with study data management, quality assurance, and organization of research databases.
  • Conduct approximately 20 qualitative participant interviews under the mentorship of the project's qualitative research team.
  • Participate in qualitative data management and analysis as appropriate.
  • Conduct and lead quantitative statistical analyses using SAS or R in collaboration with the PI and Co-Investigators, including descriptive statistics and regression modeling (primarily linear and logistic models) and other appropriate epidemiologic methods.
  • Geocode address data using GIS and compile environmental exposure datasets from publicly available sources.
  • Link geocoded data with environmental exposure databases and develop spatial exposure metrics, including proximity to emitting facilities.
  • Prepare abstracts for scientific conferences and draft manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.
  • Participate in regular research meetings and contribute to collaborative discussions on study progress and dissemination.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 Years of demonstrated experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in quantitative data analysis using SAS or R.
  • Experience with epidemiologic study design and statistical modeling.
  • Experience with research data management and data quality procedures.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and scientific writing skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.
  • Basic knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), geocoding, or spatial epidemiology, or a strong willingness to develop these skills.
  • Experience conducting qualitative research, including participant interviews.
  • Familiarity with environmental exposure assessment or environmental health research.
  • Experience preparing scientific manuscripts, abstracts, or grant materials.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
