Job Description:

About Us

Hitachi Rail is a global provider of rail solutions. In Sweden, we deliver advanced railway signalling systems that meet the highest safety, reliability, and performance standards.

We are a small and growing local team based in Solna. Our size gives everyone the opportunity to make a visible impact, take ownership, and gain experience across different aspects of project delivery. We are now looking for a Test Engineer to support testing activities in both laboratory and site environments.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, procedures, and test specifications.
  • Configure, operate, and maintain laboratory test environments, including simulators, hardware, and software tools.
  • Perform functional and integration testing in laboratory and simulated environments.
  • Support and execute testing activities on project sites.
  • Record, analyze, and report test results.
  • Support troubleshooting and investigation of issues identified during testing activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, system, and verification teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with project requirements, safety regulations, and railway industry standards.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and methods.

Team & Work environment

Small Local Team

You will be joining a compact team in Solna where your contribution is highly visible. You will gain broad hands-on experience and play an important role in project delivery.

Site-Based Activities

The role combines laboratory testing with periods of work on customer sites across Sweden. This provides exposure to real railway systems, customer environments, and project delivery activities.

International Collaboration

Much of our engineering support and development comes from Italy and other international locations. Strong communication skills and an ability to work effectively across cultures are important for success.

Career Development

This role offers a clear opportunity to grow. As you gain experience with site activities and customer interactions, you can develop toward taking greater ownership of site testing activities and potentially evolve into a Site Test Lead or Site Leader role.

What We're Looking For

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in testing or a related engineering field.
  • Understanding of the V-model lifecycle and requirements-based testing.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
  • Experience with test tools, simulators, laboratory environments, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Experience working in industrial, infrastructure, transportation, or site environments is an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of railway signalling systems is beneficial but not required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration across multiple teams and locations.
  • Willingness to travel and work on project sites when required.

Languages

  • Swedish: Full professional proficiency
  • English: Full professional proficiency

Why Join Hitachi Rail in Sweden?

  • Gain experience in both laboratory and site-based testing activities.
  • Work closely with customers and project teams on real railway projects.
  • Build broad technical knowledge within signalling and rail systems.
  • Collaborate with international experts across the Hitachi Rail organization.
  • Develop your career toward increased responsibility in site testing and project delivery leadership.
  • Contribute to the future of safe, sustainable, and efficient rail transportation in Sweden.
