About the Brand:

Since 1941, Wiseco has been a leader in forged pistons and performance parts for automotive and powersports, from dirt bikes and snowmobiles to NHRA and NASCAR engines. Headquartered in a 150,000-square-foot facility in Mentor, Ohio, Wiseco is the only brand that produces pistons strictly using the forging process.

Requirements

As a Tool and Die Maker I, you'll help build, repair and modify the tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and molds our shop depends on. You'll work under the direct guidance of supervisors and senior Tool and Die Makers, learning the trade through hands-on work. Your work helps keep our production equipment accurate and running.

What you’ll do:

• •Put safety first and never pass on a defect, no matter what leaves your hands.
• •Work like a pit crew and bring innovation to finding better, faster and smarter ways to work.
• •Help build and repair basic machine shop tools using machining equipment and measuring instruments.
• •Fabricate or help modify tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and molds from blueprints and sketches.
• •Learn to calculate the dimensions and tolerances needed to set up machine tools, with review from senior Tool and Die Makers.
• •Run basic lathes, grinders, milling and boring machines under supervision.
• •Inspect finished work against blueprints and specifications and report any problems to senior staff.
• •Take ownership of your work and look for ways to make it better.
• •Help keep our workplace safe, organized and respectful.

What you bring:

• •Passion for what you do and pride in your work.
• •A commitment to showing up, following through and doing the right thing.
• •High school diploma or GED.
• •Up to 2 years of related experience.
• •Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• •Clear verbal and written communication with both management and non-management associates.
• •Basic understanding of, or willingness to learn, CNC machine tools and shop equipment.
• •Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
• •A commitment to safety and quality.
• •Passion for what you do and pride in your work.

Nice to have:

Enrollment in, or willingness to enter, a tool and die or machinist apprenticeship program; prior shop, machining or mechanical experience; exposure to CAD/CAM software.
