Trade Assistant

TA – Mackay Workshop

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Trades Assistant to join our Mackay Workshop team.

About the Role

As a Trades Assistant, you will play a key role in the stripping, assessment, refurbishment, repair and assembly of OEM mining and mineral processing equipment. Working within a safety-first environment, you will ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with FLS quality and workmanship expectations.

This is a hands-on workshop-based role suited to someone who takes pride in delivering first-time quality outcomes and enjoys working collaboratively within a supportive team environment.

Your Responsibilities

Strip, assess, repair and refurbish mineral processing equipment

Assemble and install components in accordance with approved procedures and technical drawings

Inspect equipment and identify wear, defects or required repairs

Complete workshop documentation, including digital and paper-based reports

Maintain workshop cleanliness and adhere to all safety requirements

Participate in on-the-job training and continuous improvement initiatives

Support FLSmidth’s strong commitment to safety, quality and teamwork

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

Previous workshop or mining equipment experience

Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

Forklift licence

Current driver’s licence

Dogman/Rigging High Risk Work Licence (desirable)

Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship

Ability to work effectively within a team environment

High level of physical fitness and a positive work ethic
