The Transportation Assistant is responsible for driving the facility vehicle to transport residents, staff and volunteers to desired destination. Essential Functions Statement(s)

• •Transports residents to doctor’s appointments and other activities
• •May be requested to run errands or perform other related activities
• •Conducts safety checklist according to policy
• •Maintains vehicles in clean condition
• •Reports observations of structural, equipment and furniture defects/malfunctioning to appropriate personnel
• •Maintains confidentiality of necessary information
• •Handles unusual occurrences calmly and logically to maintain continuity of business and duties
• •Follows all appropriate safety and security guidelines, procedures and protocol for residents in the Special Care Unit
• •Maintains appropriate, effective communication with residents, and with residents' family or other significant relationships
• •Provides all care, treatment and services with appropriate dementia care protocols
• •Performs all other duties as assigned or directed

Skills & Abilities

• •Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Preferred
• •Experience: Six (6) months or more of related experience
• •Computer Skills: Must possess basic computer skills
• •Certifications & Licenses: Must possess a valid driver's license; Must obtain and maintain mandatory, state/federal requirements and certifications for practice or occupation
• •Other Requirements: Previous commercial drivers experience, preferred; Must be able to read, write, understand and speak the English language; Must be able to work with residents, community staff and physician office personnel; Must be able to adhere to all terms and conditions set forth in the United Church Homes Employee Handbook
