We’re seeking a UX Designer Senior to join our Product & UX Technology team. Every day you will make a difference in the lives of others by leading design across complex, high-impact student experiences, including nondegree pathways (take a class), undergraduate admissions, and related ASU enterprise products.

You will own experience design from early problem framing through concepting, detailed design, and implementation. You will work independently, bringing strong craft, judgment, and taste to visualize simple and cohesive solutions. You will navigate complex systems, balance user needs with constraints, and turn abstract ideas into creative design direction. You will also help raise the quality of work across the team by shaping patterns, standards, and design practices.

NOTE: This is an in-person, hybrid position. You must be able to reliably commute to Scottsdale, AZ.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead UX strategy and execution within a portfolio of enterprise digital products, owning complex student experiences from concept development through implementation and iteration.
  • Develop a deep understanding of student needs, motivations, and behaviors by leveraging research, analytics, and post-launch feedback to continuously improve design direction.
  • Apply strong design judgment to distinguish between solutions that simply function and experiences that demonstrate exceptional coherence and delight.
  • Translate abstract ideas, strategies, and emerging opportunities into tangible experience concepts, using storytelling, wireframing, prototyping, and other design methods to make future possibilities understandable.
  • Create sophisticated, high-fidelity designs, interaction prototypes, and animations that account for complex requirements, states, and edge cases.
  • Maintain a high bar for visual and interaction design craft, demonstrating strong hierarchy, typography, composition, interaction behavior, accessibility, responsiveness, graphical effects, and attention to detail.
  • Think beyond individual screens or features to understand how decisions affect the broader student journey, product ecosystem, operational processes, and long-term scalability of the experience.
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, researchers, content strategists, business stakeholders, and other collaborators to shape product direction and ensure that user experience is represented in strategic and implementation decisions.
  • Facilitate design and discovery activities that help teams explore possibilities, align on shared direction, and move from ambiguity toward actionable solutions.
  • Work closely with engineering by providing design guidance and conducting design QA testing to ensure that shipped experiences meet the intended level of quality.
  • Elevate the work of other designers through thoughtful critique, mentorship, and knowledge sharing to establish a culture of quality and curiosity.
  • Assume or coordinate other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

NOTE: This is an in-person, hybrid position. You must be able to reliably commute to Scottsdale, AZ.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
  • Proven ability to lead design of complex products from ambiguous problem spaces through strategy, execution, and iteration.
  • Demonstrated strong design taste and judgment, with ability to evaluate quality, distinguish strong solutions, and clearly articulate rationale.
  • Demonstrated creativity and conceptual thinking, including translating abstract ideas into compelling product experiences.
  • Experience with advanced interaction design skills across complex workflows, system states, edge cases, information architecture, and reusable patterns.
  • Demonstrated strong visual design skills with mastery of hierarchy, typography, composition, motion, consistency, and responsive design.
  • Experience contributing to or evolving design systems, reusable patterns, and scalable design practices across products.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate and influence design direction across product teams, stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Experience with industry-standard design , research and AI tools (Adobe CC, Figma, Claude , Codex, User testing, etc.).
  • Experience in multiple mediums of design such as print, merchandise, graphic design, presentations, infographics, and email marketing.
  • Strong digital portfolio that demonstrates exceptional UX, interaction, and visual design craft across complex, end-to-end digital products may be required.

NOTE: Please answer the following questions in your cover letter:

  • Describe a complex digital experience you led from problem/concept through design and delivery. What was your role in shaping the final outcome?
  • Describe a project where your design judgment meaningfully improved the final experience. What alternatives did you consider, and how did you determine that your solution was the strongest direction?
