Company Overview

Each year, 2.5 trillion hours are spent on household chores. At Matic, we’re on a mission to recapture that lost time, and we’re doing it by revolutionizing home robotics.

Our first product, also called Matic, is a Wall-E-esque floor cleaning robot. We've built what amounts to "full self-driving in the home” with real-time 3D mapping, adaptive path-tracking, and a precise semantic understanding of the home. Our breakthroughs in spatial AI allow Matic to work reliably in real homes, using only RGB cameras and neural networks running on-device.

Privacy First

What happens in the home, stays in the home. Our robots are private by design, with all data processing performed by the robot itself, not in the cloud.

Our Approach

Before the iPhone, consumers adopted several distinct devices; cell phones, PDAs, and portable music players each served a particular need. We believe in a similar progression for home robotics, starting with single-purpose robots and building iteratively toward more complex capabilities over time.

Our Culture

Matic is a tight-knit and collaborative team, singularly focused on building products our customers will cherish. We're ultra-hardworking people committed to solving tough problems that save precious time and energy.

About the role

We’re looking for a UX Engineer / Design Engineer to help build and refine Matic’s mobile app experience.

This role sits at the intersection of design and engineering. You’ll work closely with product designers and engineers to turn thoughtful interaction concepts into polished, production-ready UI.

The Matic app is where users interact with real-time autonomy — from maps and cleaning controls to robot status and feature configuration. Your work will help make complex robotic intelligence feel intuitive, trustworthy, and beautifully executed.

This is an entry-to-mid-level role with strong growth potential for someone who cares about craft, interaction quality, and building products that live beyond the screen.

What You'll Do

Build and ship high-quality UI in Matic’s mobile app

Translate Figma designs and prototypes into production-ready components

Implement smooth animations and thoughtful micro-interactions

Help visualize complex robot behaviors (mapping, obstacle detection, cleaning states)

Collaborate closely with product design to refine interaction details

Partner with design, software, algorithms, and hardware teams to ensure accurate real-time feedback

Contribute to and help evolve a scalable design system in code

Participate in feature planning and iteration discussions

What You Bring

1–4+ years of experience in front-end or mobile development

Experience building product-facing UI (mobile preferred)

Familiarity with Rust and/or Python, iOS and/or Android is required.

Strong attention to detail in spacing, hierarchy, motion, and interaction

Comfort working in a fast-moving, collaborative environment

Curiosity about connected devices and how software interfaces with hardware

Clear communication skills and a willingness to give and receive feedback

  • Portfolio (Required)
  • Please include a portfolio showcasing relevant design work. We’re especially interested in projects that demonstrate strong visual taste, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling graphics. Work that shows range across brand, marketing, product visuals, or storytelling is particularly valuable.
  • Please provide portfolio website password (if applicable)

Compensation

Base $96,000 — $120,000

Actual Compensation will depend on skills, experience and qualifications. Base Salary is one part of the total compensation package. The role is also eligible for equity through the company’s discretionary equity program, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental and vision coverage access to a 401(k) plan.
