Job Description:
Job Duck is seeking a Legal Assistant to provide dependable legal and administrative support within a special education and special needs planning practice. In this role, you will help attorneys manage active cases, maintain accurate client information, draft legal documents, prepare subpoenas, and keep matters organized within the case management system. You will also communicate with clients, address routine concerns, and conduct outbound follow up calls as needed. The ideal candidate is intelligent, organized, and detail-oriented, with the judgment and initiative required to manage sensitive information and multiple priorities. Monthly Compensation: 1,150 to 1,220 USD
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Perform paralegal level support tasks under the direction and supervision of attorneys.
Communicate professionally with clients through email and outbound telephone calls.
Assist attorneys with legal and administrative tasks related to active client matters.
Review documents and case records carefully to identify missing or inconsistent information.
Track outstanding client information, documents, and follow up items.
Upload, organize, label, and retrieve case documents in the case management system.
Maintain accurate and current case information within MyCase.
Protect confidential client and legal information at all times.
Support attorneys in maintaining organized workflows and meeting case deadlines.
Coordinate case related communications between clients and attorneys.
Conduct outbound calls to clients when additional information, documentation, or case updates are needed.
Prepare subpoenas and supporting documentation as directed.
Draft, format, review, and organize legal documents using established instructions and templates.
Respond to routine client questions and concerns while escalating legal matters to the appropriate attorney.
Help manage cases, client records, deadlines, and related documentation.
Requirements:
Working Hours: Flexible schedule between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. CST.
Time Zone: Central Standard Time.
Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, Case Manager, or in a similar legal support position is preferred.
Experience performing paralegal level support tasks under attorney supervision is preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
Professional proficiency in English is required.
Spanish proficiency is welcome but not mandatory.
Candidates with either monolingual English or bilingual English and Spanish capabilities may be considered.
Experience communicating professionally with clients by telephone and written correspondence is required.
Experience drafting, preparing, reviewing, and organizing legal documents is preferred.
Familiarity with special education law, special needs planning, or a related legal practice area is beneficial.
Ability to handle confidential client and case information with professionalism and discretion is required.
