Veterinary Student Externship Near Chicago

Are you a veterinary student looking for a hands-on externship experience just outside one of the greatest cities in the world? Join us at LePar Animal Hospital in Evergreen Park, IL , just 30 minutes from downtown Chicago!

This externship is exclusively for current veterinary students enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary medicine program. We welcome students from accredited veterinary schools in the U.S. and internationally, including the UK.

(Undergraduates interested in veterinary medicine are welcome to inquire about shadow days.)

About Us

LePar Animal Hospital is a well-established, 9-doctor small animal practice combining high-quality conventional medicine with holistic options such as acupuncture, chiropractic, and regenerative therapies.

We offer:

Digital radiography and dental radiography

Ultrasound and in-house CBC/chemistry

Chemotherapy and orthopedic/soft tissue surgery

Endoscopy

PRP and stem cell therapy

LigaSure, SmartFlow, Vet-Tome, plasma sterilization, and more

About the Externship

This isn’t just shadowing. It’s a real-world, immersive experience where you’ll work closely with our doctors on:

Routine and complex cases

Surgical procedures with scrub-in opportunities

Treatment plans and client communication

Case discussions and collaborative learning

With almost 90 combined years of veterinary experience among our doctors, we’re here to teach, guide, and support you throughout your externship.
