Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

Midforest Veterinary Practice - Lyndhurst, Hampshire

Salary up to £70,000 DOE, welcome bonus up to £5,000 and relocation allowance up to £5,000

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

Midforest Vets, part of inspiring vet care, has been at the heart of its local community, building lasting relationships with generations of clients and their pets. Now, we're looking for a passionate Veterinary Surgeon to join our welcoming, experienced team. If you're looking for genuine clinical freedom, excellent case continuity and the opportunity to develop your interests, this could be the perfect place to take the next step in your career.

A Varied Caseload with Room to Grow

If you enjoy the variety of first-opinion practice and getting to know your clients and their pets, you'll feel right at home here. You'll see a diverse caseload of cats, dogs, rabbits and the occasional tortoise or hamster, with a slight emphasis on consultations and medical work-ups. Alongside routine surgery, you'll also enjoy a busy dentistry caseload, giving you a rewarding balance of medicine and surgery. There's an element of sole charge, so you'll need to feel confident making independent clinical decisions, with support always just a phone call away.

A Practice That's Anything but Ordinary

Our Lyndhurst practice is full of character, operating from a beautiful 16th-century thatched cottage just outside the village. You'll also occasionally work at our nearby Totton branch, with both sites offering modern facilities including digital and dental radiography, ultrasound and in-house blood analysis to help you deliver excellent patient care.

Great People, Great Support, Great Opportunities

You'll join a friendly team of six Veterinary Surgeons, seven RVNs and a dedicated Client Care Team, all supported by an approachable Practice Manager. With certificate holders in ultrasound and dentistry already in the team, there's plenty of knowledge to share and opportunities to learn. We actively encourage CPD and certificate study, helping you explore your interests, build your confidence and shape a career you're excited about.

A Rota Designed Around Work-Life Balance

Full-time hours are worked across four 10-hour days, Monday to Thursday, meaning you'll enjoy every Friday off. The rota includes just 1:5 Saturday mornings (8:30am–12:30pm), worked as sole charge, with no out-of-hours or on-call commitments.

Discover the Charm of Lyndhurst

Known as the "Capital of the New Forest," Lyndhurst offers a truly unique lifestyle. Surrounded by ancient woodland, free-roaming ponies and picturesque walking and cycling routes, it's the perfect location for anyone who loves the outdoors. With a variety of cafés, shops, excellent pubs and the stunning Hampshire coastline just a short drive away, Lyndhurst combines rural tranquillity with easy access to Southampton, Bournemouth and beyond.
