Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

Midforest Veterinary Practice - Lyndhurst, Hampshire

Salary up to £70,000 DOE, welcome bonus up to £5,000 and relocation allowance up to £5,000

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

For over 40 years, Midforest Vets, part of ivc, has been at the heart of the local community, earning a trusted reputation for delivering exceptional veterinary care and building lasting relationships with generations of clients and their pets. We're now looking for a passionate Veterinary Surgeon to join our welcoming and experienced team. This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy genuine clinical freedom, excellent case continuity and the chance to make a meaningful impact every day, all within a supportive practice that encourages you to develop your interests and thrive in your career.

A Rewarding First-Opinion Caseload

This role is perfect for a vet who enjoys the variety of first-opinion practice and values building strong client relationships. You'll see a diverse caseload including cats, dogs, rabbits and the occasional tortoise or hamster, with a role that leans slightly towards consultations and medical case work-ups. Alongside routine surgery, you'll also enjoy a busy dentistry caseload, giving you a well-rounded mix of medicine and surgery. There is an element of sole charge, so we're looking for someone who is confident making clinical decisions independently, while knowing support is always just a phone call away.

A Unique Practice with Excellent Facilities

Our Lyndhurst practice is unlike anywhere else, operating from a beautiful 16th-century thatched cottage just outside the village, with occasional shifts at our nearby Totton branch. Across both sites, you'll have access to modern equipment including digital and dental radiography, ultrasound and in-house blood analysis, giving you everything you need to investigate and manage your cases to a high clinical standard.

Be Part of a Supportive Team

You'll be joining a team of six Veterinary Surgeons, seven RVNs and a dedicated Client Care Team, all led by a supportive Practice Manager. With certificate holders in ultrasound and dentistry already within the practice, learning and collaboration are part of everyday life. We're passionate about helping our people develop and actively encourage CPD and certificate study to support your long-term career ambitions.

A Rota Designed Around Work-Life Balance

Full-time hours are worked across four 10-hour days, Monday to Thursday, meaning you'll enjoy every Friday off. The rota includes just 1:5 Saturday mornings (8:30am–12:30pm), worked as sole charge, with no out-of-hours or on-call commitments.

Discover the Charm of Lyndhurst

Known as the "Capital of the New Forest," Lyndhurst offers a truly unique lifestyle. Surrounded by ancient woodland, free-roaming ponies and picturesque walking and cycling routes, it's the perfect location for anyone who loves the outdoors. With a variety of cafés, shops, excellent pubs and the stunning Hampshire coastline just a short drive away, Lyndhurst combines rural tranquillity with easy access to Southampton, Bournemouth and beyond.
