Title and Summary
Vice President, Account Management
- Overview:
- The Vice President, Account Management, Mexico is responsible for leading a cluster of strategic client relationships across the Mexican market, driving revenue growth, customer retention, business expansion, and executive engagement. This role serves as the primary leader for a portfolio of key accounts and is accountable for delivering commercial objectives while strengthening long-term partnerships.
- The VP will lead a team of Account Directors and Account Managers, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders across Sales, Product, Marketing, Customer Success, Risk, Finance, and Operations to develop and execute account strategies that create value for clients and the organization.
- Role:
- Strategic Account Leadership
- Own the performance and growth of a portfolio of strategic accounts within Mexico.
- Develop and execute multi-year account plans aligned with client priorities and organizational objectives.
- Build trusted advisor relationships with C-suite executives and key decision-makers across client organizations.
- Identify opportunities to deepen partnerships, increase wallet share, and drive client loyalty.
- Ensure consistent execution against client business plans and strategic initiatives.
- Revenue Growth & Business Development
- Deliver revenue, profitability, and market share objectives across the assigned account portfolio.
- Drive cross-sell and upsell opportunities across products, services, and solutions.
- Lead commercial negotiations, renewals, and contract expansions.
- Develop a robust pipeline of growth opportunities and ensure disciplined execution.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive dynamics, and client priorities to identify new business opportunities.
- Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the executive sponsor for key client relationships.
- Lead regular business reviews and strategic planning sessions with senior client stakeholders.
- Ensure high levels of client satisfaction, retention, and advocacy.
- Proactively identify and resolve client challenges by coordinating internal resources.
- Establish governance models and executive engagement plans for priority accounts.
- Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing account management team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer centricity, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear performance objectives and provide ongoing coaching and career development.
- Ensure effective resource allocation and talent development across the portfolio.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Operations, and Finance teams to deliver client outcomes.
- Champion client needs internally and influence product and solution development.
- Coordinate executive-level engagements and strategic initiatives across the organization.
- Drive alignment on growth priorities and client strategies.
- Market Leadership
- Maintain a strong understanding of the Mexican market, competitive landscape, and industry trends.
- Represent the organization at industry events, client forums, and executive meetings.
- Contribute to broader market and business strategies through client and industry insights.
- All About You:
- Bilingual English and Spanish
- 8-10 years’ experience of progressive sales and account management experience within the financial services or payments industry sectors.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (Master’s Desired)
- Extensive knowledge of card industry.
- The role requires having the skill set to work in a rapidly changing and developing environment.
- Demonstrate multi-disciplinary knowledge, i.e. marketing, operations, risk, co-brand and emerging technologies and acquiring
- Excellent written, oral and presentation communication skills
- First class selling skills
- Demonstrates the ability to initiate, pursue and close a sale
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills
- Ability to think from the perspective of the customer
- Possess excellent relationship management skills:
- Internal advocate for customer account and/or industry to ensure organization is responsive to needs of client
- Proactively builds business partnerships with customers to strengthen account relationship
- Builds consensus with others to gain co-operation
- Develops and leverages key relationships
- Understands the diverse needs and objectives of various stakeholders
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate superior business acumen
- Demonstrated understanding of key business fundamentals including political, financial, business and regulatory environments of the customer organization as well as drivers of financial health of customers and MasterCard Worldwide
- Must be able to demonstrate an entrepreneurial approach and vision to developing business propositions
- Must have a strong product and profitability focus
- Demonstrate proven ability to develop and successfully implement, quantifiable business plans.
