Vice President, Public Power – Operations & Growth

Sparus Holdings is seeking a Vice President, Public Power – Operations & Growth to lead and grow our Public Power business.

This executive will be responsible for both the operational performance and commercial growth of the business, with primary focus on electric metering, AMI, and utility field services. The role will also support gas and water utility operations where applicable.

We are looking for a senior utility executive who understands how to run field operations, lead distributed teams, manage financial performance, build strong customer relationships, and identify new business opportunities.

The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in electric utility services and metering, an established network across the utility industry, and a demonstrated ability to turn relationships into long-term customer partnerships and revenue growth.

Key responsibilities

• •Provide executive leadership for Public Power operations across assigned markets, customer accounts, and territories.
• •Lead electric metering, AMI, and related utility field service operations.
• •Support gas and water metering operations as needed.
• •Lead managers, supervisors, and geographically distributed field teams.
• •Drive safety, quality, productivity, customer service, and operational accountability.
• •Own operational performance, budgets, margins, workforce planning, resource allocation, and profitability.
• •Monitor operational KPIs and implement improvements that strengthen service delivery and financial performance.
• •Build and maintain strong relationships with municipal utilities, public power organizations, electric cooperatives, investor-owned utilities, meter manufacturers, AMI providers, and other industry partners.
• •Identify new business opportunities and support the expansion of existing customer accounts.
• •Leverage industry relationships and professional networks to create introductions, partnerships, and new revenue opportunities.
• •Partner with senior leadership on business strategy, market expansion, customer growth, and long-term planning.
• •Participate in customer meetings, proposals, contract discussions, presentations, and strategic business development activity.
• •Develop leaders within the organization and support succession planning and employee development.
• •Ensure operations remain aligned with customer expectations, safety requirements, compliance standards, and company goals.

Required experience

• •10+ years of progressive leadership experience in electric utility services, metering, AMI, public power, utility field operations, or a closely related environment.
• •Direct experience leading electric metering, AMI, or electric utility field service operations.
• •Senior leadership experience with responsibility for a business unit, region, division, or company.
• •Experience with P&L ownership, budgeting, financial performance, or significant operational responsibility.
• •Proven ability to lead managers, supervisors, and distributed field-based teams across multiple locations or regions.
• •Strong understanding of field execution, safety, compliance, productivity, workforce planning, and operational KPIs.
• •Demonstrated experience building and managing senior-level customer relationships within the utility industry.
• •Proven success supporting business development, expanding customer accounts, developing new business, or contributing directly to revenue growth.
• •Established relationships within the electric utility, public power, municipal utility, cooperative, metering, or AMI industry.
• •Ability to operate comfortably in both an operational leadership role and a customer-facing business development role.

Preferred experience

• •Experience with gas and/or water metering operations.
• •Experience working for a utility services contractor, metering company, AMI provider, meter manufacturer, or public power services organization.
• •Previous experience as a President, CEO, COO, General Manager, Division President, Regional Vice President, or senior operational executive.
• •Experience growing or scaling a utility services business.
• •Experience with municipal utilities, electric cooperatives, investor-owned utilities, or public power organizations.
• •Entrepreneurial or founder experience within the utility services industry.
