Description
The Volunteer Director provides church-wide leadership and strategy for creating a healthy, engaging, and sustainable volunteer culture at Christ Community Chapel (CCC). This role owns the health and effectiveness of CCC’s overall volunteer system by developing scalable processes, equipping ministry leaders, monitoring engagement and follow-through, and identifying opportunities for improvement. While ministry teams retain responsibility for role-specific placement, onboarding, and development, the Volunteer Director ensures that church-wide systems are functioning effectively and that CCC continues building a volunteer-first culture. This is a full-time position and reports to the Executive Director of Ministry Leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Build, manage, and continually improve scalable church-wide systems and processes for volunteer recruitment, connection, onboarding, development, and retention.
- Oversee volunteer engagement tools and workflows, including the Volunteer Quiz, automated communication, and Planning Center processes, ensuring volunteer leads receive timely and effective follow-up.
- Monitor volunteer engagement data, including leads, response times, placement/conversion rates, and unresolved connections, identifying trends and areas where follow-through needs improvement.
- Equip and provide accountability to ministry leaders around volunteer recruitment, onboarding, development, and retention while maintaining clear ownership within each ministry.
- Regularly evaluate ministry volunteer structures, including roles, leadership layers, onboarding practices, and training processes, and help leaders address gaps or opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and facilitate church-wide training, tools, and frameworks that equip staff and volunteer leaders to effectively recruit, onboard, develop, and retain volunteers.
- Help ministries identify opportunities to better align volunteers with their gifts and strengths and develop high-capacity volunteers into Team Leaders, Coaches, Ministry Partners, and other leadership roles.
- Provide leadership with regular insight into the health of CCC's volunteer culture, including trends, challenges, opportunities, and recommended improvements.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Be in a dynamic and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Bachelor's degree in ministry, organizational leadership, communications, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Three or more years of experience in volunteer leadership, ministry leadership, people development, or a related field preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, engage, develop, and retain volunteers or teams.
- Strong relational and communication skills with the ability to influence and equip leaders across multiple ministries.
- Strategic thinker who can develop scalable systems while remaining highly relational.
- Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable utilizing technology, data, and systems to improve volunteer engagement and effectiveness.
