SUPERVISOR EVP/Chief Executive Officer

BASIC FUNCTION

Delivers professional communication and marketing services to deliver a strong and positive tone reflecting TMA’s member-driven vision, mission, and policies through a highly integrated communications strategy to TMA members, their patients, federation of medicine, state and federal elected officials, regulators and the media. Builds upon the longstanding culture of collaboration between all TMA Divisions, county medical societies, state specialty societies, the AMA to foster a strong member-driven message supportive of TMA’s goals of speaking with One Voice and acting as a Trusted Leader.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS

Develop communications and marketing strategies utilizing analytics reported from Division of Member Experience & Analytics Services.

Oversee all communications and publications including Texas Medicine, Texas Medicine Today, and other TMA printed, digital, or web-based publications.

Oversee all digital media strategies, social media responses and campaigns.

Manage public relations/mass media strategies with the TMA President and Office of the EVP.

Assist Advocacy division in preparation of all materials to be shared with physician members who testify at state or national level or used in publications or distributions to the public and policymakers.

Write speeches for TMA leaders.

Prepare and monitor annual divisional budget for all program areas of responsibility.

Oversee the collaborative creation of all TMA marketing campaigns assuring each campaign supports the goals and objectives of TMA Councils and Committees which work with and are supported by TMA Division and Department staff.

Collaborate with TMA physician leadership, all TMA VPs, General Counsel, and EVP to anticipate and manage the impact of TMA’s support and/or sponsorship of legislation, litigation and regulatory comment letters.

Oversees the strategic development and collaborative creation of all TMA marketing campaign assuring campaign support the goals and objectives of TMA Councils and Committees who work through TMA Division Vice Presidents.

Oversee TMA brand management consistent with TMA strategic planning, use of a collaborative cross-divisional branding team, establishing a clear review process, and guidelines for new media.

Creates and manages evaluative tools to assess the effectiveness of each campaign.

Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position oversees all employees of the division with direct supervision of those who direct and manage the division’s work.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge and Experience:

Knowledge required is normally equivalent to the attainment of bachelor's degree in related field and several years (e.g., 10 years) work experience.

Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing a comprehensive strategic communication, media relations, and marketing program to advance an organization's mission and goals.

Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.

Must have exceptional writing experience and editorial judgement.

Must have familiarity with the Texas legislative process.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to be a team player and deal effectively and appropriately with the public, TMA members, and other TMA employees.

Must be organized and able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.

Must have strong writing and editing skills.

Ability to plan work that requires judgment and analysis of problems or material issues which usually impact other TMA divisions and TMA members.

Expertise in basic office computer programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and use of social media and the web editing.

Knowledge of basic HTML.
