Are you passionate about designing automation solutions that improve how millions of packages move through a fulfillment network? Amazon is looking for a Warehouse Automation Manager to drive innovation and product development for material handling equipment (MHE) across our operations. In this role, you will own the automation roadmap — from early-stage concept engineering and prototype design through vendor development and full-scale rollout. You will research emerging technologies, evaluate cost-effective alternatives, and collaborate with Safety, Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Finance teams to deliver solutions that increase productivity and capacity. If you thrive on turning ideas into real-world systems that operate at scale, we want to hear from you.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • - Design and standardize automation prototypes for conveyors, lifts, and other MHE, managing the full lifecycle from concept engineering through implementation and performance qualification.
  • - Build and own the automation roadmap by researching new technologies, benchmarking industry best practices, and evaluating alternative solutions that balance quality, cost, and operational impact.
  • - Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders — including Safety, Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Finance — to develop material flow layouts and engineering specifications for new and existing facilities.
  • - Lead vendor qualification, development, and management activities including preparation of Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Quotation (RFQ), and scopes of work, while driving techno-commercial discussions with procurement and project teams.
  • - Leverage generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools and data-driven analysis to identify process improvements, optimize designs, and accelerate solution development cycles.
  • A day in the life
  • You will start your week reviewing progress in business review forums, aligning priorities against the automation roadmap, and adjusting plans based on operational feedback. Much of your time is spent independently — prototyping concepts, analyzing power requirements, and refining engineering specifications — then shifting into collaborative sessions with partner teams to pressure-test designs and resolve technical trade-offs. You will stay connected to the professional community and market trends, bringing fresh ideas back to the team to keep solutions affordable and forward-looking.
  • About the team
  • Our team is on a mission to strengthen Amazon's automation charter by creating innovative MHE solutions that scale operations across fulfillment buildings. We work at the intersection of mechanical engineering, controls, and product development, turning ideas into systems that move real packages every day. Senior leaders provide strategic vision while team members take ownership of execution, building expertise through self-directed learning and engagement with the broader engineering community. This is a team where your work directly translates into measurable productivity and capacity gains.

Basic qualifications

  • - Bachelor's degree
  • - Experience of automated equipment including packaging machinery, sortation and conveyor systems
  • - Experience with Kaizen and Continuous Improvement Process

Preferred qualifications

  • - Experience in a fast-paced, automated, industrial, logistics, production or manufacturing environment
  • - Experience in preventative maintenance systems
