Join Our Vehicle Preparation Team as Team Leader!

MotoMine, the UK’s largest motorcycle salvage company and part of the 4th Dimension Innovation Group, is looking for a Vehicle Preparation Team Leader to run our Vehicle Preparation Team at Unit 6, Thorpe . Every MotoMine Projects motorcycle, and RideNation stock, passes through this team on its way to sale. Bikes that are proven to run, prepared to retail standard and imaged properly sell for more, so the work you lead has a direct impact on the business.

This is a hands-on, working team leader role reporting to the Head of Operations. You’ll lead from the front on the workshop floor, set the daily plan, hold the team to a consistent preparation and imaging standard, and own the flow of bikes from arrival on site to listing-ready. You’ll lead the Vehicle Service and Preparation Operatives (two direct reports once the team is at its planned size of three).

Main Duties

Setting a written daily task list and priorities at the start of each shift, and reviewing completion at the end

Managing attendance, timekeeping, breaks and holiday requests, and escalating absence, performance or conduct matters in line with company policy

Setting clear standards for work rate, quality and housekeeping, giving regular feedback, and training and cross-training the team

Contributing to rota planning for peak arrival periods, weekends and holiday cover

Planning the preparation queue to meet our target of five working days from arrival on site to live listing

Making sure every bike has its engine checked, running status recorded and a running video captured

Getting bikes to retail standard: cleaning and valeting, fitting accessories and completing minor technical work within commercial limits

Identifying bikes suited to the Ride Away scheme, parts recovery or high-value parts swaps, and routing them correctly

Making sure keys, V5s and service history are recorded and stay with each bike

Running the imaging area, including the new enclosed imaging room once it’s built and the move to video-based listing

Making sure every bike is imaged to the agreed shot sequence first time, including the RideNation imaging procedure

Keeping the daily tracking sheet and system records accurate, and reporting daily on throughput and any blockages

Tracking and reducing rework, and feeding back recurring condition issues or “not as described” disputes

Coordinating daily with Stock Control, supporting customer collections and hosting visiting engineers

Making sure the team follows SOPs, risk assessments and PPE requirements, and that tools, lifts and imaging equipment are looked after

Key Skills

Experience leading or supervising a small team in a workshop, vehicle preparation, warehouse or similar hands-on setting, or a strong operative ready to step up

Sound practical knowledge of motorcycles, including assessing running condition and carrying out basic servicing and minor repairs (essential)

High standards of presentation and close attention to detail

Well organised, able to plan a daily workload and keep work moving

Confident giving instructions and feedback, and holding the team to standards

Comfortable recording data and using basic IT, including photo and video capture

A full UK driving licence

Bonus Points For

Photography or video experience

A recognised motorcycle technician qualification (e.g. IMI Level 2)

A motorcycle licence

A forklift licence, or a willingness to train

No formal academic qualifications are required.

The Essentials

  • 🕒 Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 08:30 – 17:00, five days a week, including every Saturday, with one of Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday off
  • 💷 Salary: £31,000 – £33,000 per annum
  • 📍 Location: Unit 6, Thorpe
  • 📋 Contract: Full time
  • 🎁 Perks: Competitive company benefits, training & development opportunities, and an energetic, supportive team culture
