Job Summary:
The WestHouse Administrator is the supervising manager of the County-owned 24-hour mental health crisis facility. The Administrator supervises the provision of critical support and direct care to individuals experiencing mental health crises, ensures a safe and therapeutic environment, assists clients in implementing treatment plans, and maintains through documentation in accordance with program policies. The Administrator is responsible for facility oversight, personnel management, and coordinating with the medical director and other providers of medical health services. The Administrator reports directly to the Board of County Commissioners.
Travel Required:
Ability to travel to meetings, training and other locations to carry out the necessary duties.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Oversee the day-to-day operation of the crisis facility.
Ensure a safe and structured environment.
Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
Deliver compassionate, client-centered care to individuals in mental health crises.
Maintain 24/7 staff scheduling for the facility, including on-call support.
Communicate effectively with the Board of County Commissioners for facilities needs.
Maintain, monitor, and manage the facility budget.
Monitor licensing requirements, compliance and qualifications.
Develops and manages contracts with providers to ensure quality of care, fiscal accountability and compliance with all regulations and program guidelines
Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with County Human Resources Department to recruit, hire, onboard and train program personnel.
Facilitate and document training to ensure all personnel remain current in:
Crisis prevention and de-escalation
First aid
CPR
Other emergency procedures, including fire drills
Facility procedures and policies
Facilitate staff meetings, case reviews, and training for professional development
Enforce adherence to policies, procedures and training standards
Conduct performance evaluations and manage personnel actions
Serve as a resource and mentor to staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care
Ensure client and record confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Conduct facility audits to ensure compliance with
Maintaining appropriate records
Medication protocols
Operational and safety standards
Report any suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation
Plan, facilitate and/or participate in community outreach efforts
Day-today services for which the Administrator is responsible can include:
Oversee client intake and orientation
Provide crisis intervention using evidence-based de-escalation techniques
Assist clients with treatment plan and treatment objectives
Provide client centered therapeutic activities
Monitor activities to ensure house rules and safety protocols are followed
Review record keeping to ensure staff meet documentation standards
Provide care coordination and referrals in collaboration with providers
Provide transitional case management
Supervise cleaning and housekeeping tasks to ensure the facility is consistently clean, sanitized, and organized
Coordinate household shopping to meet facility needs
Transport clients as needed, following all safety and liability protocols
Perform other work as assigned by the Board of County Commissioners
Required Skills/Abilities:
Must pass a background check acceptable to the Board of County Commissioners upon an offer of employment
Valid current driver’s license with good driving record
Advanced skills in conflict resolution and de-escalation of volatile situations
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to:
Build rapport with individuals in crisis
Communicate effectively and sensitively with individuals from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
Effectively train, guide, and support all WestHouse personnel and providers
Work effectively with a multidisciplinary team
Knowledge and understanding of State and Federal regulations and related laws for mental health care facilities
Proficiency with electronic documentation systems and basic computer skills
Ability to conduct audits and ensure compliance with regulations and standards
Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations
Required Education and Experience:
A bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field, master’s degree is preferred
Minimum of three (3) of experience in mental health, social services, and/or crisis intervention
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a leadership or management role
Preferred Education and Experience:
A master’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field
Experience with survey process for maintaining licensure in Montana
Knowledge and experience wiring grant applications and grant administration
Workplace Environment:
The WestHouse Administrator commonly remains in an indoor setting, with some outdoors activities. Client interactions can require the Administrator to move, kneel, crouch or otherwise engage with a client, as well as stand, sit and walk on a regular basis. On occasion, may be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
