Wet Process Engineer (PCB Manufacturing)

AdvancedPCB is the most comprehensive provider of printed circuit board solutions in the country. We are seeking a reliable, motivated Process Engineer to join our growing company. The Wet Process Engineer oversees and evaluates all wet process functions including deburring/sanding, electroless and electrolytic plating, etch and resist stripping. The Wet Process Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager.

Essential Job Function:

• •Provide product and process support through routine evaluation of wet process operations, equipment, materials, chemistry, and product.
• •Conduct process evaluations to ensure optimal process conditions, minimize process variation, and improve processing times and quality.
• •Enhance manufacturing capabilities by actively seeking process improvement opportunities and evaluating new technologies.
• •Perform occasional chemical analysis to support wet processes.
• •Conduct failure analysis of non-conforming products to determine root cause and preventive/corrective actions.
• •Perform and evaluate microsection analysis to troubleshoot defects, validate processes, and support failure analysis.
• •Review and revise existing process procedures as needed and develop procedures for new or modified processes.
• •Ensure operators are properly trained and assist with technical training, as required.
• •Work with Maintenance to establish, review, and improve preventive maintenance requirements for wet process equipment and systems to ensure reliable process performance.
• •Support new equipment installation, qualification, and implementation in coordination with Maintenance.
• •Oversee preventive maintenance and chemistry schedules for wet process lines, coordinating with Maintenance, Waste Treatment, Production, and suppliers as applicable to ensure timely execution.
• •Collaborate with Pre-Planning, DFM, Engineering, Quality, and other departments to communicate new process capabilities and process flows and support documentation changes.
• •Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of wet process engineering.
• •Ensure wet process operations comply with company safety protocols and applicable regulatory requirements.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position requiring available to work during standard business hours and mandatory weekend overtime when needed to meet production goals. Shifts may include weekends when schedule details are provided in advance.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications, Education and Experience:

• •Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Materials, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred, or a minimum of three (3) years of directly related PCB wet process experience.
• •Minimum of two years' experience with TrueChem or similar chemical/process control software.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• •Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
• •Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are beneficial but not required.
• •Demonstrated knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes, particularly wet processes, with the ability to troubleshoot, evaluate, and improve processes.
• •Ability and willingness to safely handle process chemicals and perform tank makeups, chemical additions, and related wet process activities. Prior experience preferred.
• •Ability to read, understand, and apply technical data sheets, process specifications, and supplier documentation for chemical makeup, analysis, process control, parameter development, and operator training.
• •Excellent work ethic, detail oriented, and self-motivated.
• •Works effectively both independently and cross-functionally, coordinating with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and other departments as required.
• •Ability to learn and use non-destructive measurement and process control equipment, including XRF and surface copper thickness measurement tools.

Physical Requirements:

• •Prolonged periods sitting and performing visual and manual tasks.
• •Able to lift 5-gallon containers to waist height. The containers weigh approximately forty (40) pounds.
• •Able to walk on uneven flooring, climb stairs.
• •Able to work in a room environment where multiple chemicals are used and stored.
• •Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), as required by work area.

Compensation/Benefits:

California Pay Range: $75,000 - $90,000 annual

The actual compensation offered is based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and other relevant business considerations.
