the posting

AIM builds autonomy for the real world - robots that move mountains. Our systems fuse software, hardware, robotics, and mission-critical infrastructure into ruggedized, safety-critical machinery operating on jobsites across the world. We replace decades of manual, error-prone, high-risk work with intelligent machines that reshape how earthmoving is done.

Build, fabricate, and inspect high-reliability wire harness and cable assemblies for autonomous programs. Work from engineering drawings and controlled documentation to deliver harnesses that meet spec the first time. A successful entry-level Wire Harness Technician independently builds and inspects harnesses to drawing and IPC/WHMA-A-620 spec with minimal rework, flags ambiguous drawings or missing documentation rather than guessing, and can be trusted to sign off their own work — but escalates any spec conflict, safety concern, or non-standard fix to an engineer or lead rather than deciding it themselves.

Responsibilities

Cut, strip, crimp, solder, and terminate wire and cable per engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions.

Build wire harness and electro-mechanical assemblies to IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards.

Read and interpret cable harness drawings, layout drawings, mechanical drawings, schematics, and GD&T.

Install connectors, terminals, heat-shrink tubing, cable ties, labels, and protective sleeves.

Perform continuity, insulation resistance, and functional electrical checkouts using digital multimeters and custom test setups.

Inspect completed harnesses for correct pinout, mechanical durability, and workmanship; flag and document non-conformances.

Perform basic rework and repair — de-pin/re-pin terminals, splice corrections — on returned or in-process assemblies.

Collaborate with production and manufacturing engineers to document and improve build processes.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area; follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

1-5 years of experience using mechanical and/or electronic hand tools.

Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams, schematics, and assembly drawings.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Experience fabricating or inspecting wire harness and cable assemblies.

Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards (certification a plus).

Experience in aerospace, defense, heavy equipment, automotive or another high-reliability manufacturing environment.

Experience with Altium.

Comfort working in a fast-paced, low-volume/high-mix production environment with shifting priorities.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work at a bench or on a vehicle for extended periods.

Ability to lift up to 20 lbs as needed.

Good vision and hand-eye coordination for detailed wiring work

Hard skills

Crimping, soldering, and connector termination to a recognized workmanship standard (IPC/WHMA-A-620 or equivalent).

Reading and working directly from wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical/GD&T drawings without hand-holding.

Using a digital multimeter and basic test setups to verify continuity, resistance, and functional pass/fail.

Diagnosing and correcting a wiring defect (not just reporting it) — re-termination, splice repair, de-pin/re-pin.

AIM-specific attributes

Comfort with ambiguity — AIM's build documentation and BOMs change often as harnesses go through revisions; the technician has to build correctly today and adapt tomorrow without a finished, static work instruction.

Safety-first mindset — works around live electrical systems and heavy equipment; stops and flags rather than pushing through an unsafe condition to hit a deadline.

Ownership of outcomes — treats a harness with their name on it as their responsibility through inspection and test, not just through assembly.

Low-volume/high-mix tolerance — comfortable switching between harness types and revisions within a shift rather than expecting long, repetitive runs.

Compensation - $40,000-$75,000 base salary
