Workplace Relations Specialist

The Workplace Relations team plays a critical role in helping Commonwealth Bank navigate complex people matters while balancing employee wellbeing, legislative obligations and business outcomes. Supporting leaders across the Group, we provide expert advice and practical solutions on a broad range of employee and workplace relations matters.

As part of one of Australia's largest Workplace Relations teams, you'll work alongside experienced ER professionals managing a diverse portfolio of matters across the organisation. From performance management and misconduct through to workplace investigations and employee disputes, you'll have exposure to a breadth of complex and meaningful work while building your expertise in employee relations.

We're also investing heavily in technology, automation and AI to shape the future of Workplace Relations, creating opportunities to contribute to innovative solutions that enhance how we support our people and leaders.

Do work that matters

As a Workplace Relations Specialist, you'll partner closely with leaders, HR Business Partners and employees to provide expert workplace relations advice and support on a broad range of employee matters.

You will manage matters from initial enquiry through to resolution, balancing legislative requirements, organisational policy, employee wellbeing and business outcomes to deliver practical and commercially sound solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a diverse portfolio of employee and workplace relations matters from assessment through to resolution.
  • Providing advice and guidance on performance management, misconduct, grievances, workplace disputes, personal illness matters, discrimination, harassment and bullying concerns.
  • Conducting or supporting workplace investigations and fact-finding activities.
  • Partnering with leaders, HR Business Partners and other stakeholders to resolve complex people matters.
  • Supporting external matters involving workplace representatives, solicitors, unions and regulatory bodies where required.
  • Assisting with unfair dismissal and other Fair Work related matters.
  • Coaching leaders to build capability and confidence in managing employee relations matters.
  • Facilitating workshops and training sessions on workplace relations topics and best practice people leadership.
  • Identifying emerging trends and escalating high-risk matters appropriately.
  • Contributing to process improvement initiatives and projects focused on enhancing workplace relations outcomes across the Group.

We're interested in hearing from people who have

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience managing employee relations or workplace relations matters within a corporate, consulting or legal environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian workplace relations legislation and employment frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience in workplace investigations, case management and dispute resolution.
  • Experience supporting matters involving misconduct, performance management, grievances and workplace complaints.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to provide pragmatic advice in complex situations.
  • Excellent judgement and problem-solving capability.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and a high volume of work.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the preparation of investigation and case documentation.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Employment Relations, Law or a related discipline.
