The Advanced Manufacturing Technical Trainer delivers hands-on technical training programs for incumbent workers, employer-sponsored trainees, workforce development participants, and other adult learners. This position facilitates competency-based technical training in classroom, laboratory, and industrial environments while ensuring a safe, engaging, and effective training experience. The Technical Trainer evaluates learner progress, adapts training approaches to meet workforce needs, and collaborates with training management and curriculum teams to maintain industry-relevant training solutions. ‎

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Training Delivery & Learner Performance

Delivers trainer-led, competency-based technical training programs in classroom, laboratory, virtual, and industrial settings. Conducts learner assessments to evaluate knowledge and skill proficiency. Develops and documents individualized learning plans where appropriate.

Monitors learner progress and adjusts training methods to support successful completion of training objectives. Maintains required training records, attendance documentation, competency validations, and progress reports according to departmental procedures.

Communicates learner progress and training outcomes to participants, employers, and program staff as appropriate. Participates in department meetings, training initiatives, and professional development activities.

Creates a positive training environment that encourages active and collaborative learning, participant effort, academic challenge, trainee and faculty interaction, and support for learners. Uses technology to assist in communication with trainees. Encourages peer learning, teamwork, and application of training content to workplace situations. Refers trainees to appropriate student and academic support services available at the College or in the community.

Lab & Equipment Administration

Ensures that all training equipment, tools, and laboratory materials are prepared, operational, and properly arranged prior to the start of each class to support a safe and effective hands-on learning environment. Communicates ordering needs to administrative staff in a timely and proactive manner to ensure continuous training operations. Maintains equipment inventory and conducts routine maintenance on trainers. Works with administrative staff to ensure that shared equipment is not double-booked with other teams.

Training Development

Collaborates with the Manager, subject matter experts, and curriculum development staff to design, review, maintain, and continuously improve technical training materials, assessments, laboratory activities, and training resources. Ensures training content remains aligned with current industry practices, employer requirements, and organizational goals.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Electronics, Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of professional experience in manufacturing or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
  • *An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework, and experience may qualify a candidate.
