About the role

We're looking for a Corporate Counsel to join Atomic's legal team and serve as a key partner to the General Counsel. You'll combine substantive legal analysis on cutting-edge fintech issues,; negotiating commercial contracts, managing disputes, and providing legal advice to the risk committee — with hands-on involvement in legal operations, including maintaining and improving our contract and vendor management database.

This role is about building depth and resilience in a legal department that today relies on a single senior attorney. You'll handle some of the legal work that keeps the business moving while being mentored by the General Counsel to assume increasingly more varied and interesting responsibilities. You will have the opportunity to further develop as a well-rounded in-house lawyer with exposure to commercial transactions, regulatory matters, mergers and acquisitions, legal operations, cross-border transactions, disputes, privacy and corporate governance.

Atomic is a remote-first company; candidates based in the US are required, with New York metro or San Francisco Bay Area a plus.

Negotiate and review commercial contracts with partners, including master agreements and order forms

Manage routine contract negotiations end-to-end, escalating non-standard terms or high-risk issues to the General Counsel

Review new contracts against a standardized checklist covering payment terms, exit clauses, reserve provisions and enforcement mechanisms, flagging deviations for legal review

Track and document modifications to standard contract terms, ensuring visibility to affected teams across Atomic

Disputes & Litigation Management

Handle day-to-day dispute management, including demand letters, and pre-litigation matters

Manage lower-complexity employment matters, coordinating with outside counsel when needed

Track and respond to litigation deadlines, discovery requests, and regulatory inquiries

Prepare legal analyses for the risk committee on matters requiring legal review

Legal Operations & Contract Database

Maintain, improve, and expand the vendor and contract management database (Ivo platform), including partner agreements, order forms, and compliance records

Develop automated reports on auto-renewal dates, termination windows, and other key contract metrics

Partner with Compliance to align vendor due diligence workflows with the contract database

Identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency of the legal function
