CBC is looking for a Radio Scheduling Producer to join our Scheduling & Content Planning team. Under the supervision of the Manager of Radio Scheduling and Marketing Communications, the Radio Scheduling Producer will ensure continuous content in the overnight hours on CBC Radio One, while supporting the production of Radio One promos, continuous content for Radio One’s Sirius XM channel and the Radio Distribution portfolio, as needed.

S/he must be able to perform in an ever-changing environment and contribute to timely solutions. The successful candidate will be a results-driven, detail-oriented problem solver, who can work independently and who thrives in a positive team environment.

While work must conform to CBC standard operating and administrative procedures, there is both opportunity and a requirement for independent judgment, analysis and decision-making within sets of complex parameters. Work is subject only to general review and there may be a requirement to coordinate the work of others.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the preparation of content for Radio One’s overnight schedule. Attention to detail required.
  • Retrieves, auditions, edits, and packages content for the CBC broadcast clock. Vets content to ensure it meets CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices. Pushes various programs to CBC Master Control.
  • Edits and mixes multitrack audio rapidly and accurately in Dalet, with demonstrated technical fluency in WideOrbit code creation, VML, FTP audio sharing, Aspera, and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive).
  • Responsible for logging and distributing Music reports.
  • Training new team members.
  • Maintains content log and music logging using CBC’s Virtual Music Library and iNews.
  • Performs other production or administrative tasks associated with the smooth functioning of the department, including but not limited to supporting the production of Radio One promos, continuous content for Radio One’s Sirius XM channel and the Radio Distribution portfolio, as needed.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • University degree or equivalent experience.
  • Job requires a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience during which the candidate would gain exposure to journalism, computers and the technology of radio or television broadcasting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Dalet, with a demonstrated ability to execute seamless, natural-sounding interview edits.
  • Proven track record of efficiently organizing and managing high-volume daily audio workflows.
  • Experience producing promotional radio material or continuous programming for Radio One’s SiriusXM channel (a plus).
  • Proactive and self-directed, with a proven ability to independently diagnose and resolve operational or technical challenges.
  • Highly resourceful problem-solver capable of driving swift solutions with minimal oversight.
  • Passion for CBC radio & audio content.
  • Proven critical thinking.
  • Sensitivity to different cultures, diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to contribute to the diversity of points of view in the team.
  • Great sense of organization and productivity, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Keen interest in radio and audio programming and development, and dedication towards audience engagement and retention.
  • A deep understanding of the CBC brand, its mandate to reflect new and diverse audiences
  • Knowledge of industry trends
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Knowledgeable of programming and scheduling best practices
  • Collaborative and proactive approach to problem solving
  • Good communication (both spoken and written)
