Company:

Marsh

Description:

Business Development Executive

We are recruiting three Insurance Business Development Executives (BDEs) to grow Marsh’s SME commercial segment in Witham and Worcester.

Each BDE will focus on direct-to-client acquisition and the fast, repeatable placement of commercial risks with premiums between £5,000 and £20,000. The role prioritises Commercial Combined, Contractors, and general commercial product lines, requiring strong prospecting, quoting, and disciplined pipeline management.

You’ll manage your own schedule and priorities — an independent role with lots of freedom and ownership.

This is a hybrid role requiring you to work at least four days a week on the road or in the office.

Possibility to work from our Bristol office.

We will count on you to:

New business: Source, qualify and convert direct client opportunities (£5k–£20k).

Fast sales: Move deals quickly with disciplined qualification, quoting and follow-up.

Smooth handover: Provide clear handovers to servicing teams and support retention in month 0–12.

Market intel: Feed insurer appetite and market insight into product development.

Relationships: Build direct client and introducer/referral partnerships that drive leads.

Compliance: Keep accurate records and follow Marsh policies.

What you need to have:

12+ months in commercial insurance sales (broker/MGA/insurer) with proven results.

Great at winning new business and keeping a steady pipeline for high-volume, low-prem accounts.

Know Commercial Combined, Contractors and similar lines in the £5k–£20k band.

Comfortable with quoting portals, open-market placements, delegated authority or panel work.

Brilliant at prospecting, owning your diary and hitting targets.

Strong negotiator, numerate and commercial-minded.

Full UK driving license and happy to travel locally.

What makes you stand out:

Experience building direct-to-client sales channels or referral relationships.

Industry qualifications (Cert CII / DipCII) or working towards them.

Experience with digital placement and high-volume quoting processes.

Why join our team:

We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work, and supportive leaders.

We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have an impact on colleagues, clients, and communities.

Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.
