About the project

HammondCare is creating a Centre of Excellence for the complex care of older people at Greenwich, delivering an integrated health campus designed to provide world-class care and services.

The $300 million redevelopment will bring together palliative care, dementia care, restorative care and mental health services, alongside residential aged care and seniors living accommodation, creating a truly integrated environment for older people.

About the role

The Commissioning & Operational Readiness Manager will be HammondCare’s hands-on lead for ensuring the new Greenwich facilities are fully tested, operationally ready and safe to open from day one.

Reporting to the Project Director, you will lead commissioning and operational readiness activities on site, ensuring that buildings, systems, equipment, services and people come together seamlessly ahead of activation.

Acting as the critical day-to-day link between the Property and Capital Works team, Operations, Facilities Management, ICT and clinical teams, you will coordinate readiness across all aspects of the new campus.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Commissioning and operational readiness planning
  • Integrated building and systems testing
  • FF&E and medical equipment installation, testing and activation
  • Building, technology and digital interfaces
  • Move, transition and activation planning
  • Workforce training and operational preparation
  • Facilities Management mobilisation
  • Handover, defect management and project close-out

You will work closely with the Senior Clinical Partner to ensure clinical services are ready for activation, and partner with the Senior Project Manager to embed commissioning activities, dependencies and milestones into the master programme, risk register and project reporting.

This is a highly visible, hands-on role for someone who can bring together the physical, technical and operational elements of a major redevelopment and turn a completed building into a safe, functioning and fully operational healthcare environment.

This is a full-time, 24-month maximum-term opportunity, with the possibility of extension. Based at St Leonards, the role offers the flexibility of hybrid working, with travel to our Greenwich site and other HammondCare locations as required.

About you

  • A strong commitment to engaging with and aligning to HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action.
  • At least 7 years’ demonstrated experience in commissioning, operational readiness or facility activation, ideally within hospitals, aged care or other complex healthcare environments.
  • A proven track record in the commissioning and activation of new or redeveloped facilities, including integrated systems testing, handover, transition and move activities.
  • Strong working knowledge of building services and healthcare facility systems, with an understanding of how they integrate to support safe and effective day-to-day operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule and coordinate complex commissioning activities across builders, consultants, clinical teams, operational stakeholders and service providers.
  • Experience managing FF&E and medical equipment schedules, including procurement, installation, coordination, testing and activation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to bring multiple parties together, manage competing priorities and maintain focus on a shared go-live date.

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Facilities Management, Health Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with the Australasian Health Facility Guidelines (AusHFG) relating to operational commissioning and relevant NSW commissioning frameworks.
  • Experience with Facilities Management (FM) service mobilisation, operational transition or contract transition.
