  • Overview:
  • Are you interested in helping a growing business navigate regulatory complexity while supporting new market opportunities?

We are seeking a proactive, strategic, and collaborative Compliance Consultant to oversee Affinity Solutions' business compliance functions and help strengthen our compliance capabilities as the business expands into new products, markets, and partnerships.

In this role, you will provide leadership and oversight of core compliance activities, including regulatory responses, third-party administrator (TPA) oversight, client due diligence, and emerging regulatory requirements. You will partner closely with Affinity business leaders, internal teams, Securian's Law and Corporate Compliance functions, and external partners to identify risks, resolve complex issues, and develop practical solutions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead Affinity's business compliance operations, providing oversight of regulatory inquiries, TPA compliance, client due diligence, complaint trends, and other core compliance activities. Maintain the ability to perform essential responsibilities to ensure continuity and consistent execution across the team.
  • Lead regulatory response strategy and coordination for market conduct examinations, state regulatory inquiries, surveys, and related matters. Research complex requirements, develop response recommendations, and collaborate with Law, Corporate Compliance, internal teams, and external partners to ensure timely, accurate, and effective resolutions.
  • Oversee and strengthen TPA compliance programs, including audit planning, evaluation of findings, remediation oversight, regulatory change implementation, and escalation of recurring concerns. Establish consistent expectations, processes, and accountability with third-party partners.
  • Proactively monitor legislative and regulatory developments across Affinity's products and markets. Assess potential business impacts, recommend appropriate actions, and partner with stakeholders to implement changes that strengthen regulatory readiness.
  • Expand compliance support for Affinity's growing markets and products, including Property & Casualty, Specialty Lines, and new business opportunities. Provide guidance on regulatory requirements, product development, market expansion, and evolving business models.
  • Serve as a strategic compliance advisor to Affinity leadership, identifying emerging risks, evaluating complex compliance matters, and recommending practical solutions that balance regulatory obligations, client needs, and business objectives.
  • Lead compliance involvement in emerging business initiatives, including artificial intelligence, data governance, and technology transformation. Partner with Law, Corporate Compliance, Internal Audit, and business teams to identify regulatory considerations, strengthen controls, and support responsible implementation.
  • Strengthen compliance processes and business continuity by developing consistent oversight practices, documentation, reporting, and knowledge sharing. Partner with the P2 Senior Analyst to ensure effective execution of recurring compliance activities and appropriate escalation of complex matters.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience independently managing complex compliance or regulatory matters, evaluating risk, and developing practical business recommendations.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance principles, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices, with the ability to apply them across different products, markets, and business operations.
  • Proven ability to lead compliance initiatives, establish effective oversight practices, and improve policies and procedures in response to regulatory changes, audit findings, or emerging risks.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise independent judgment when established guidance or precedent is limited.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, navigate competing priorities, and communicate effectively with business leaders, legal and compliance partners, and external organizations.
  • Ability to balance compliance requirements with business growth objectives while maintaining sound judgment and appropriate risk management.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize complex initiatives, anticipate potential issues, and deliver results in a changing business environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in business compliance, regulatory affairs, risk management, or related field.
  • Experience with insurance law, consumer financial services law, financial institution regulation, or related regulatory environments.
  • Experience overseeing third-party administrators, regulatory examinations, audits, or compliance with remediation programs.
  • Experience supporting new products, market expansion, or business transformation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Affinity Solutions markets, products, and distribution models.
