Job Overview

We're looking for a proactive and organised Credit Controller to join our Finance team at THE·TEAM.

In this role, you'll play an important part in managing customer accounts, supporting timely payments and maintaining accurate financial records. You'll work closely with customers and internal teams to resolve payment queries, improve cash collection and support effective financial planning.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, building positive working relationships and contributing to the smooth running of a busy finance function.

What You'll Do

  • Manage credit control and collections: Proactively follow up overdue balances, investigate and resolve customer payment disputes, and work towards agreed monthly collection targets to improve debtor days. Ensure credit control activities are carried out effectively and in line with agreed procedures.
  • Support billing and payment processes: Work closely with the billing team to ensure sales invoices are accurate and distributed on time. Liaise with clients to ensure purchase order (PO) requirements are followed, and accurately record and allocate customer payments, including bank transfers, cheques and credit card transactions, in line with finance policies and procedures.
  • Monitor cash flow and reporting: Forecast incoming customer payments and upcoming cash requirements, proactively identifying potential collection issues and implementing appropriate solutions. Produce accurate weekly and monthly reports to keep the business informed of collections progress and support effective cash management.
  • Build strong customer relationships: Deliver excellent service to internal and external customers, providing commercial input and regularly reviewing customer accounts and ledgers to improve efficiency and strengthen working relationships. Maintain the internal ticketing system, ensuring queries are managed and resolved promptly.
  • Support finance operations and improvements: Complete all month-end activities accurately and within agreed timelines and procedures. Identify opportunities to improve credit control processes, support colleagues with ad hoc responsibilities and provide team cover when required.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to discuss outstanding payments, manage customer queries and resolve disputes professionally.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
  • Confidence working with financial information, spreadsheets and finance systems, with an ability to support cash forecasting, reporting and account reconciliation.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving, with a willingness to improve processes, take ownership of responsibilities and support colleagues across the business.

What we offer

  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Health cash plan, Gymflex, enhanced parental leave and cycle to work scheme benefits, amongst many others
  • Excellent office environment, company and departmental social events, and learning and development programmes
