Location: Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens (Long Island City)
Salary Range: $22/hour
Reports to: Head of School
Schedule: 9am-6pm various hours Monday-Friday (part-time and full-time schedules available)
About us:
New York Preschool & Kids Club is an early childhood education and enrichment program serving modern New York families through our combination of enrichment classes and preschool education. With multiple schools across New York City, NYPKC blends a research-backed, play-based curriculum with a fun and supportive environment, delivering a full family experience for children and parents.
About the Role
We are seeking a Floating Teacher to join our mission of providing New York City’s 0-6-year-olds with a foundation for lifelong learning. In this role, you are the ultimate multi-hyphenate. One hour, you might be spotting a budding gymnast on the bars, the next you’re stepping in or supporting a lead teacher in one of our “Tools of the Mind” private preschool classrooms. You are the glue that holds our community together and the spark that makes our enrichment programs legendary and preschool classes an incredible foundation for lifelong learning!
What You’ll Do
- The Classroom Chameleon: Lead and Assist a variety of classes for children ages 0 to 6 years. You’ll use a variety of curricula to teach everything from preschool to art and stem classes!
- The Developmental Partner: Help children build confidence, coordination, and social skills through activities and structured play, ensuring a “safe to fail” environment where children feel secure enough to take risks and explore their world.
- The Problem Solver: Support with transitions, classroom organization, and daily operations. You are the teammate who sees a need and jumps in with a smile.
- The Family Partner: Build trust with parents and caregivers through daily updates, sharing the successes and challenges of their child’s day, and building a bridge between school and home.
The statements in this job description are intended to describe the essential nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be all responsibilities or qualifications of the job.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For

- Special Edge: Be a passionate teacher and lifelong learner!
Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
What Success Looks Like
- Ensuring a safe, joyful, and engaging classroom environment where every child thrives.
- Seamlessly adapting to support different classes based on evolving program needs.
- Anticipating classroom requirements and preparing resources well in advance of instruction.
- Executing smooth, efficient hand-offs between classes and activities to maximize learning time.
- Cultivating trust-based relationships with students, families, and the internal team.
- Maintaining 100% compliance with all study plans and certification requirements.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- The Time Off: PTO and sick/safe leave (exact amounts vary based on part-time/full-time status).
- Comprehensive Care: Medical (for full time), Dental, and Vision coverage (for full or part time), plus a 401(k) Plan with Company Contribution (all roles)
- The Extras: Commuter programs, discounted fitness memberships, and more!

Inclusivity and Diversity: NY Preschool & Kids Club is committed to an inclusive and diverse community. We celebrate differences, leading with kindness and respect. We are an equal opportunity employer, prohibiting discrimination based on various factors.
