Heavy Duty Mechanic (Independent Service Provider)

We are seeking experienced Heavy Duty Mechanics (Independent Service Provider) to support our operations at CNRL Albian, Fort McKay, AB.

You’ll work on a fleet of haul trucks, loaders, dozers, and excavators, helping keep critical equipment safe, reliable, and ready for the job.

Essential Responsibilities

• •Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy mining equipment including haul trucks, loaders, dozers, and excavators
• •Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections to keep equipment running safely and efficiently
• •Repair and replace components to OEM standards, with a focus on CAT, John Deere, and Komatsu equipment
• •Complete service records and communicate equipment status to operations teams
• •Work safely with tools and equipment, following all site safety procedures
• •Collaborate with mechanics and operations to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime

Qualifications

• •Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician Certification
• •Must have own service truck
• •Hands-on experience in heavy equipment repair (mining or heavy civil preferred)
• •Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
• •Experience reading schematics and using diagnostic tools
• •Experience with CAT, John Deere, and Komatsu equipment strongly preferred
• •Available for day / night shifts
• •Must provide proof of applicable insurance and business documentation as required

Work Conditions

• •Independent Service Provider arrangement
• •$130 per hour
• •Consumables will be supplied
• •Project based position working 14 days on and 14 days off, working 12 hours per day
• •Camp accommodations
• •Chartered flights from Edmonton or Calgary
• •Work will be primarily outdoors and in various weather conditions
• •Work is anticipated to be completed in April 2027 with potential for extension
