As a High School Special Education Teacher at The Pinnacle School, you will provide engaging, data-driven instruction in a supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping students with diverse learning needs reach their full potential through individualized instruction, collaboration, and evidence-based teaching practices.

What You’ll Need

Bachelor’s degree in special education, education, mathematics, or a related field

Valid Connecticut state endorsement (165): Special Education: Comprehensive (Grades K-12), or (029): Mathematics (Grades 7-12), or eligibility for certification

Minimum of two (2) years experience teaching special education student populations with language-based learning differences

Familiar with the IEP process and collection of progress monitoring data

Create and maintain an orderly and aesthetic learning environment that accounts for students social, emotional, and executive functioning need

Commitment to help children of all abilities reach their full potential

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, enthusiastic style to fit with our small-team environment

What You’ll Do

Deliver high-quality, data-driven instruction aligned with the school's mission and philosophy

Differentiate instruction to accommodate students' learning styles, abilities, and current achievement levels

Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including Present Levels of Performance, measurable goals, and objectives

Participate as an active member of the Planning & Placement Team (PPT)

Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, teaching methods, and learning principles to help students achieve academic and IEP goals

Collect, analyze, and maintain progress monitoring data to inform instructional decisions
