We are seeking talented and enthusiastic individuals to join our Imaging team in Oslo, Norway as summer interns !
Do you want to learn how physics and mathematics are used to solve real-world challenges?
Our geophysicists combine scientific knowledge and problem-solving skills with advanced signal processing and imaging techniques to create state-of-the-art three-dimensional images and models of subsurface reflectivity and rock properties.
As an intern, you will work closely with a team of geophysicists on an ongoing seismic imaging project. You’ll take responsibility for testing a key project topic and gain invaluable experience in a professional scientific environment.
What will it involve?
This is a paid, eight-week internship planned for the period from mid-June to mid-August 2027 , with flexible start and end dates. You will be based at Viridien’s main Norwegian office at Lilleaker in Oslo.
During your first week, you will receive training in our in-house software, introductory geology and geophysics, and the skills needed to present technical results to clients. Throughout the internship, you will be invited to attend internal technical seminars and meet experts in other areas of geoscience. You will also have access to our extensive training resources and be paired with a geophysicist who will provide guidance and support.
- Qualifications
- The internship is open to students based in Norway who are pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s or PhD degree in physics, astronomy, Earth sciences, natural sciences, mathematics, geophysics or a related field.
- Application Process
- Submit your CV by 12:00 noon Norwegian time on 8 December 2026 .
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to complete a ten-minute, one-way video interview.
Candidates who progress to the final stage will be invited to a technical interview. Depending on your location and university schedule, this may be held online or in person. We expect final selections to be made by 22 January 2027.
We receive many strong applications for a limited number of internship positions. If you reach the final interview stage but are not offered an internship, we may consider fast-tracking your application for other roles at Viridien, based on your skills and enthusiasm for science.
What we offer
- Practical experience in seismic imaging and insight into the wider geoscience sector
- Curious, collaborative colleagues who share your enthusiasm for science and problem solving
- A paid internship
- Sports and social activities
- An on-site canteen
